Lil Wayne Issues Apology to Emmett Till’s Family

Lil Wayne has issued a direct apology to the family of slain Chicago teenager Emmett Till for using insensitive lyrics in Future’s song “Karate Chop (Remix).” Read the statement to Till’s family and comment if you think changing the lyrics was the right thing to do.

Wayne acknowledging the family’s feelings on the matter was a good move.

Dear Till Family:

As a recording artist, I have always been interested in word play. My lyrics often reference people, places and events in my music, as well as the music that I create for or alongside other artists.

It has come …

Drake Releases “5AM In Toronto” Video

Young Money artist Drake has made good on promises from last month and released his official video for the song “5AM In Toronto.”

The clip, which is the second video from Drake to surface in 2013, finds the young MC reciting his lines while hanging out with friends in parking lots and indoor volleyball courts (seriously). When compared to “Started From The Bottom” there is not much to be said other than that this clip feels a bit lazy. It’s less than seven takes in maybe three locations and a song this powerful deserves far better. “Started From The Bottom” …

REVIEW: Lil Wayne – I Am Not A Human Being Part 2

Artist: Lil Wayne
Album: I Am Not A Human Being Part 2
Label: Young Money

As much as I hate to say it, the quality of Lil Wayne’s music has inarguably become questionable in recent years. When The Carter 3 arrived, Wayne was on top of the world with a record that reflected both his precision as a street-bred lyricist and his ability to craft a pop song with a hook you could not escape. The success that followed that release carried Wayne to a level of stardom few ever find. A rare space where all those contenders you battled …

Birdman States Lil Wayne’s Seizure Was Due To “His Work Ethic”

Young Money owner Birdman has broken his silence regarding the rumor of Lil Wayne’s seizure last week were due to a overdosage of codeine. Apparently the rapper’s health scare was just an episode of working too hard, according to the CEO. Read what Birdman had to say below and make your own decision on what the real case is here.

“He had a seizure through the night. We’ve really been in the hospital since Tuesday. All the stuff that people have been saying, there’s no truth to it at all,” he said. “We never left [the hospital] after the first

Lil Wayne Facing Lawsuit Over Skateboard Beat Down

LA Weekly is reporting that Lil Wayne is back in the tabloids and facing charges for his alleged assault of Los Angeles promoter Alfred Marino. Marino explains that he was just trying to get a picture of the rapper in May (2012) when one of his crew became irate and struck him in the head with a skateboard.

Alfred Marino told sources, “[His bodyguards] started tripping and saying, ‘I told you that Lil Wayne does not want to be bothered.’ I told them I have taken pictures of tons of people and I just want to show my friends that

MIXTAPE: Tyga – 187

Young Money’s most active emcee continue to keep the new music flowing. After only a short promotional period, Tyga has dropped 187 for the world to hear. This release serves as the twenty-something rapper’s final mixtape of 2012, and caps off what can only be described as a year of progress. He’s headlined two large scale tours, held the number one spot with “Rack City,” and likely released more than double the amount of music your favorite artist did (for free, no less). 187 features 8 new tracks, and should keep go a long way towards keeping fans satisfied until …

DRAMA: Pusha T Disses Lil Wayne (Again)

I love Pusha T’s music the way pop punk boys and girls cling to crewneck sweatshirts when we all know zippered hoodies provide more overall warmth and comfort. This week he returns to the headlines of UTG for saying the kind of things about Lil Wayne that I know the majority of the staff has jokingly commented on from time to time, as well as the majority of the jaded drunken geniuses who pontificate to one another about everything that’s “wrong” in current pop culture over 80s classics in bars on weeknights.

Tl;Dr version: Pusha T thinks Lil Wayne fell …

Limp Bizkit To Begin Recording Tomorrow (Wednesday)

Rumors have swirled for months over what had become of Limp Bizkit. Their much-discussed, somewhat celebrated return was short-lived to say the least, and arguments between members without much direct interaction with fans has left more questions than answers, but tonight it seems we have a bit more clarity. According to a Facebook status posted on the band’s official account around 9:50 PM (EST) on Tuesday:

“Recording starts tomorrow for all you nu metal riff lovin LB fans”

Barring any unforeseen setbacks, this status could very well mean that Limp Bizkit’s Young Money debut will arrive on shelves by Summer …
