Ben Affleck Batman

Ben Affleck Will Direct, Star In and Co-Write New ‘Batman’ Film

The Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 hasn’t even started yet, but already one of the biggest announcements of the entire weekend has made its way to the general public.

According to several sources, including SlashFilm and Deadline, Ben Affleck is getting his very own Batman movie. Even better, Affleck will apparently be directing the feature in addition to handling the lead role, and he will even contribute to the script. Details on the film are few and far between right now, but the flick is believed to be a ‘solo’ adventure existing away from Batman V

Taking Back Sunday - Current Line Up 2013

Taking Back Sunday Are Back In The Studio

Exciting news came down today from Long Island rockers, Taking Back Sunday. Back in February, we discovered that the band was writing new material in a “secret mountain house.” Today, the band tweeted that they’re back in the studio and have begun working on the follow-up to their 2011 self-titled album.

This marks the sixth studio album by the band, and the third to include all founding members. Guitarist and vocalist, John Nolan, and bassist, Shaun Cooper, parted ways with the band after their breakthrough 2002 album, Tell All Your Friends. It wasn’t until 2010 when the …

Day one included the likes of headliner Slipknot, Slash (of Guns N’ Roses), Deftones, and more local Japanese bands. Day two of the festival included none other than the legendary Black Sabbath, Tool, Stone Sour (Corey Taylor had a busy two days), Dir En Grey, Steel Panther, and more locals. All of this and more, …

Aiden Begin Writing, Planning New (Final?) Album For 2014

Earlier this year, UTG sat down with William Control to discuss a number of things, including the fate of his punk band Aiden. At that point, Aiden had not been heard from in months, and it was clear from our discussion with William that it would be some time before that project was heard from again. He also mentioned the idea that Aiden may come to an end in the foreseeable future, and now it seems everything is slowly starting to come together.

Taking to Aiden’s official Facebook, William Control (real name Wil Francis) posted a lengthy update …

Taking Back Sunday To Start Writing Again In “Secret Mountain House”

Hey, seclusion worked for Bon Iver.

Absolute Punk reports that Taking Back Sunday are riding off to an undisclosed location to start writing some new material.

The band tweeted yesterday that they were en route to a “secret mountain house” to work on their music.

Like, that could mean anything from a desolate (possibly haunted) wooded shack to a low profile ski chalet. Based off the Instagram program in the tweet, it appears that the band is near, …

UTG INTERVIEW: William Control

There are a select few in this alternative music community who truly spend every waking second trying to develop fresh ideas to share with curious ears. Sometimes their efforts fail, sure, but in our book a disastrous experiment is better than a monotonous retread of familiar sonic territory any day of the week.

Of those who consistently work to find new ways to express their creativity, William Francis stands out as someone who, for better or worse, has experienced it all. From teen years plagued with crime and drug abuse, to rising through the underground ranks and signing his first …

Rocky Loves Emily - Promo 1

Rocky Loves Emily Already Working On New Record

Rocky Loves Emily just came out with Secrets Don’t Make Friends in 2012, and have already begun to work on their follow up album. In the middle of an emotional post, vocalist Brandon Ellis said on Facebook “We are writing a new record… We are writing, and we are excited, inspired by YOUR stories.

Overall, the band’s post seems to indicate a bigger change coming, be it in sound or lyrical meaning. He seems inspired in a way that he was not before, apparently. The paragraphing of his words is mediocre, but you can read the full quote …

Patrick Stump Squashes FOB Rumor

Between this and the hiatus of Scissor Sisters, today is off to a rough start.

Yesterday, the blogosphere went nuts over Keltie Colleen letting the cat out of the bag that she knew “FOB were working on new songs.” Now, Patrick Stump has squashed that rumor. He took to his Twitter to say that “One of these days there may actually be news and you won’t be able to hear it over all the rumors.” He went on to call Keltie “awesome“; Keltie hasn’t yet commented on who her source(s) were or Stump’s …
