Taking Back Sunday To Start Writing Again In “Secret Mountain House”

Hey, seclusion worked for Bon Iver.

Absolute Punk reports that Taking Back Sunday are riding off to an undisclosed location to start writing some new material.

The band tweeted yesterday that they were en route to a “secret mountain house” to work on their music.

Like, that could mean anything from a desolate (possibly haunted) wooded shack to a low profile ski chalet. Based off the Instagram program in the tweet, it appears that the band is near, …

UTG INTERVIEW: William Control

There are a select few in this alternative music community who truly spend every waking second trying to develop fresh ideas to share with curious ears. Sometimes their efforts fail, sure, but in our book a disastrous experiment is better than a monotonous retread of familiar sonic territory any day of the week.

Of those who consistently work to find new ways to express their creativity, William Francis stands out as someone who, for better or worse, has experienced it all. From teen years plagued with crime and drug abuse, to rising through the underground ranks and signing his first …

Rocky Loves Emily Already Working On New Record

Rocky Loves Emily just came out with Secrets Don’t Make Friends in 2012, and have already begun to work on their follow up album. In the middle of an emotional post, vocalist Brandon Ellis said on Facebook “We are writing a new record… We are writing, and we are excited, inspired by YOUR stories.

Overall, the band’s post seems to indicate a bigger change coming, be it in sound or lyrical meaning. He seems inspired in a way that he was not before, apparently. The paragraphing of his words is mediocre, but you can read the full quote …

Between this and the hiatus of Scissor Sisters, today is off to a rough start.

Yesterday, the blogosphere went nuts over Keltie Colleen letting the cat out of the bag that she knew “FOB were working on new songs.” Now, Patrick Stump has squashed that rumor. You know what is worse than a rumor? People ruining surprises. I don’t know if Ms. Keltie Colleen is guilty of the first or the second, but either way, prepare to learn why she is quasi-important on the blogosphere today.

When not spending her time working for The Insider, Keltie Colleen has become somewhat of a blogger figure in the alternative music scene. She’s interviewed many of the artists we feature on UTG, and today she guaranteed a few more followers for herself by tweeting the following:

Today I am basking in the glow of knowledge that FOB are working

Say what you will about their love of drama-laden headlines, but the crew at NME does know how to get scoops that we really want. “Early next week I go back to Los Angeles to record an iTunes session for Blink-182, and we’re starting to write the new record right now.”
