It is a slow weekend for movies. This weekend has only two films opening in most theaters, a remake and a kids movie. I guess if you really need an action or sci-fi fix you could go see Total Recall, but early reviews would lead you to believe you would be better off just renting the original. If you have kids (or just love kids movies, I guess) then you should check out Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. You can see trailers for both of these movies after the jump.

The month of June closes out with some stellar options for movies! If you want a good laugh be sure to check out Ted from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane or the new Tyler Perry movie Madea Does Some Things Or Whatever. If you want to see some really attractive guys (and Matthew McConaughey) take their clothes off then definitely check out Magic Mike. For those in need of a good heartwarming story that will probably make you cry go see People Like Us. You can see the trailers for all these movies after the jump and …
Movie lovers rejoice! This weekend’s new releases are not all terrible! For the kids and Pixar lovers (which, let’s be honest, is everyone) make sure to go check out Brave. The indie film lovers get a wide release this weekend with Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World which looks to have a pretty funny cast and an interesting plot. If you really need that testosterone kick (or love stovepipe hats) then Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is for you. Trailers for all three films can be seen after the jump.
This weekend is looking pretty nostalgic for movie goers. On the musical front we have Rock Of Ages which is loaded with 80′s hair metal goodness. On the comedy side of things is That’s My Boy, the new Adam Sandler film that promises to be better than Jack And Jill (but really, that bar was not set too high). For you documentary buffs out there in major cities look for a chance to see Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap. You can see the trailers for all these movies after the jump.
There are two films opening this weekend that everyone will be talking about on Monday. If you are a fan of kids and family movies then make sure to check out Madagascar 3. If you love science fiction or want to be up on pop culture discussions then definitely see Prometheus, which we have a full review for here. You can watch the trailers for the movies after the jump.
Now that Avengers-mania is starting to calm down there are some new releases to check out in theaters this weekend. For the mindless action fans Battleship finally sets sail, although early reviews are not leaning towards it being a “hit”. What To Expect When You’re Expecting is also being released this weekend so all you parents out there have an option for date night. If you want to go the comedy route make sure to see The Dictator, the new film from the maker of Borat.
There really are not many films coming out this weekend for all you cinephiles out there to check out. Getting a wide release is the new Tim Burton/Johnny Depp flick Dark Shadows. If you are lucky enough to live in a major market you could also check out Girl In Progress, The Road, or God Bless America if any of those tickle your fancy.
This weekend’s movie choices could be summed up in four words: go see The Avengers. All the studios played it safe and decided not to open any other movies this weekend on a large scale, but if you live in a major city and really hate superheroes there are a few other options.
