It is a slow weekend for movies. This weekend has only two films opening in most theaters, a remake and a kids movie. I guess if you really need an action or sci-fi fix you could go see Total Recall, but early reviews would lead you to believe you would be better off just renting the original. If you have kids (or just love kids movies, I guess) then you should check out Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. You can see trailers for both of these movies after the jump.

Movie lovers rejoice! This weekend’s new releases are not all terrible! For the kids and Pixar lovers (which, let’s be honest, is everyone) make sure to go check out Brave. The indie film lovers get a wide release this weekend with Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World which looks to have a pretty funny cast and an interesting plot. This weekend is looking pretty nostalgic for movie goers. On the musical front we have Rock Of Ages which is loaded with 80′s hair metal goodness. On the comedy side of things is That’s My Boy, the new Adam Sandler film that promises to be better than Jack And Jill (but really, that bar was not set too high). For you documentary buffs out there in major cities look for a chance to see Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap. You can see the trailers for all these movies after the jump.

Now that Avengers-mania is starting to calm down there are some new releases to check out in theaters this weekend. For the mindless action fans Battleship finally sets sail, although early reviews are not leaning towards it being a “hit”. What To Expect When You’re Expecting is also being released this weekend so all you parents out there have an option for date night. If you want to go the comedy route make sure to see The Dictator, the new film from the maker of Borat.
