You Blew It! Share “Surf Wax America” Cover

We’re going surfing, we’re going surfing!”

You Blew It! have partnered with our good friends at Stereogum to share the first song off their upcoming Weezer cover album.

“Surf Wax America” is one of those formidable early 90s indie/punk anthems that has become synonymous with youth in the decades since its initial release. The members of You Blew It! recognize this, and it’s part of the reason they decided to cover the track for their forthcoming Blue Album covers EP. As guitarist/vocalist Tanner Jones explains:

We chose “Surf Wax” because it’s a really great song, plain and simple. We didn’t

Real Estate

Watch Real Estate Debut New Song “White Light” and Cover Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So”

It’s been quite a year for New Jersey indie rockers Real Estate. Not only did they put out an excellent new album, Atlas, but they announced a new live EP, shared US tour dates, and taught us how to play “Crime” on guitar. Naturally the next step was to stop by La Blogothèque for a dependably breathtaking live session. The 30-minute video has frontman Martin Courtney, guitarist Matt Modanile, and bassist Alex Bleeker playing in a cozy indoor setting to a small group of onlookers.

The video catches Real Estate playing music off of Atlas, including …

Weezer Announce New Album Title

Weezer is back and set to have a busy year. Not only will they be busy rehearsing some older songs for Riot Fest, but it’s clear that we’ll see a new album this year.

Earlier this year, they posted a teaser regarding such release. Well, now we have been presented with a new teaser, and it has been officially announced that the band will call it Everything Will Be Alright In The End. Regardless of how cliche the title is, and how disappointing some of their most recent albums have been, it’s hard to not get excited with …

REVIEW: Masked Intruder – ‘M.I.’

Artist: Masked Intruder
Album: M.I.
Label: Fat Wreck Chords

Wisconsin’s Masked Intruder are at once one of modern pop-punks best kept secrets and one of its fastest emerging acts. A gimmick band who keep their identities hidden under brightly coloured ski-masks at all times, the Madison quartet have ridden their unique blend of hilarious throwback pop-punk and a much heralded live show to widespread critical acclaim, staking their claim on the top of many a scenesters’ ‘next big thing’ list in the process.

Much of this success can be owed to their delightfully enjoyable 2012 debut full-length, Masked Intruder, …

The incredible lineups for the Chicago and Denver weekends of the annual festival were revealed earlier this week, and the initial tiers of tickets are long sold out, but the festival made yet another spectacular announcement today. In honor of Riot Fest’s tenth anniversary, ten bands will be performing their seminal albums in Humboldt Park this fall, with a few repeating at the Denver festival.

The full album performances will include Weezer’s Blue Album and The Offspring’s Smash, both of which are celebrating their twentieth anniversaries this year, Slayer’s …

You Blew It! Announce Weezer Cover EP

In the age where anniversary tours and nostalgic posts about how so-and-so album molded the music scene forever flood our feeds almost weekly now, one can’t help but appreciate it when a band goes out of their way to talk about how influential another band’s work was to their music careers and ventures.

You Blew It!, a band that’s at the forefront of the emo revival, is doing just that, in their own personal way.

With Weezer’s The Blue Album being twenty years old this week, You Blew It! has announced that they will be recording a five-song cover …

Weezer In Studio 2014

Weezer Post Studio Teaser, Working On New Album

Weezer have posted a video and some photos to their official Tumblr confirming that they are currently in the studio, working on a follow up to 2010′s Hurley. The short, 20-second video shows grainy footage of Rivers Cuomo and company working on new material, with instrumental teasers of new music playing in the background.

The band played a new song called “Back To The Shack” on the Weezer Cruise earlier this year, which seemed to indicate that Weezer is back in a sane mindset after a string of several questionable novelty albums including the mostly-terrible Raditude. Regardless, new …

Weezer Cruise

Watch Weezer Play New Song “Back to the Shack” on the Weezer Cruise

Last weekend, Weezer set sail for their latest Weezer Cruise, ditching all this snow for a much brighter time. Apart from great sets from Cat Power, Toro Y Moi, DIIV, and several other acts chosen by the band, Weezer performed their own highly-anticipated headlining set. What better time to debut new material than when surrounded by superfans in the middle of the ocean?

The band took this chance to debut a brand new track called “Back to the Shack.” It’s a self-aware ditty that gets a bit scruffier than their newer songs, with Rivers Cuomo going off about reality …
