Weezer Takes “Back To The Shack” to ‘The Tonight Show’

Last week Weezer took us back to ’94 as they released their debut single, “Back to the Shack,” which will be off their new album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End. And if you’ve heard anything about this new album, you know the nostalgia that’s involved, and how it’s supposed to reminisce of The Blue Album and Pinkerton.

So with all that excitement and anticipation, the band performed “Back to the Shack” on Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night. It’s nothing short of a standard Weezer performance, and makes us even more excited for the next few months …

LISTEN: Weezer Shreds In New Single, “Back to the Shack”

Weezer‘s new single, “Back to the Shack,” is an outright jam. The band’s first single off of the highly-anticipated new LP, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, “Back to the Shack,” shreds from start to finish — showing us Weezer never lost that edge we have loved from the beginning.

Everything Will Be Alright in the End is due out September 30 and drummer Pat Wilson has been quoted describing the record as “If you took the Pinkerton band and then play all the other records, that’s what we sound like now. Bombastic, loose, kind of …

Every Weezer Fan Needs To Spend Time With ‘You Blue It!’ This Week

It’s truly rare that a covers album rises above the level of novelty to become something worth longtime admiration. Of the dozens, if not hundreds of covers releases and compilations created every year, only a handful are ever deemed worthy of coverage by the vast majority of press, and of those few even less are ever spoken of in a positive light. It would certainly appear that people enjoy a good cover, but only to a certain degree, and I’ll be the first to admit that that certainly applies to me. To be completely honest, I have only found one …

Weezer Say That Their New Album Sounds Like ‘Blue Album’ Meets ‘Pinkerton’

As you may know, Weezer is releasing a new record in September called Everything Will Be Alright In The End. For a large portion of the band’s fan base, the excitement that accompanies a new album announcement is almost always shaded in the possibility of being let down once again. However, things are a little different this time. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, drummer Pat Wilson states that the new record “sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.”

While the band has released …

You Blew It! Share “Surf Wax America” Cover

We’re going surfing, we’re going surfing!”

You Blew It! have partnered with our good friends at Stereogum to share the first song off their upcoming Weezer cover album.

“Surf Wax America” is one of those formidable early 90s indie/punk anthems that has become synonymous with youth in the decades since its initial release. The members of You Blew It! recognize this, and it’s part of the reason they decided to cover the track for their forthcoming Blue Album covers EP. As guitarist/vocalist Tanner Jones explains:

We chose “Surf Wax” because it’s a really great song, plain and simple. We didn’t

Watch Real Estate Debut New Song “White Light” and Cover Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So”

It’s been quite a year for New Jersey indie rockers Real Estate. Not only did they put out an excellent new album, Atlas, but they announced a new live EP, shared US tour dates, and taught us how to play “Crime” on guitar. Naturally the next step was to stop by La Blogothèque for a dependably breathtaking live session. The 30-minute video has frontman Martin Courtney, guitarist Matt Modanile, and bassist Alex Bleeker playing in a cozy indoor setting to a small group of onlookers.

The video catches Real Estate playing music off of Atlas, including …

Weezer Announce New Album Title

Weezer is back and set to have a busy year. Not only will they be busy rehearsing some older songs for Riot Fest, but it’s clear that we’ll see a new album this year.

Earlier this year, they posted a teaser regarding such release. Well, now we have been presented with a new teaser, and it has been officially announced that the band will call it Everything Will Be Alright In The End. Regardless of how cliche the title is, and how disappointing some of their most recent albums have been, it’s hard to not get excited with …

REVIEW: Masked Intruder – ‘M.I.’

Artist: Masked Intruder
Album: M.I.
Label: Fat Wreck Chords

Wisconsin’s Masked Intruder are at once one of modern pop-punks best kept secrets and one of its fastest emerging acts. A gimmick band who keep their identities hidden under brightly coloured ski-masks at all times, the Madison quartet have ridden their unique blend of hilarious throwback pop-punk and a much heralded live show to widespread critical acclaim, staking their claim on the top of many a scenesters’ ‘next big thing’ list in the process.

Much of this success can be owed to their delightfully enjoyable 2012 debut full-length, Masked Intruder, …

The Get Up Kids, Weezer, Descendents And More To Perform Full Albums At Riot Fest

It’s not like Riot Fest needed to get any better. The incredible lineups for the Chicago and Denver weekends of the annual festival were revealed earlier this week, and the initial tiers of tickets are long sold out, but the festival made yet another spectacular announcement today. In honor of Riot Fest’s tenth anniversary, ten bands will be performing their seminal albums in Humboldt Park this fall, with a few repeating at the Denver festival.

The full album performances will include Weezer’s Blue Album and The Offspring’s Smash, both of which are celebrating their twentieth anniversaries this year, Slayer’s …

Riot Fest Announces Chicago And Denver Lineups

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. After months of anticipation and speculation, the lineups have been announced for the Chicago and Denver editions of this year’s Riot Fest, and you can see them below.

Based on the history of Riot Fest and the announcement of the Toronto lineup last week, no one doubted that these announcements would be great, but the festival organizers truly outdid themselves. The top of the bill for both weekends includes huge names like The Cure, The National, Rise Against, and even Wu-Tang Clan. Additionally, Jane’s Addiction will make an appearance at …
