Die Hard

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: February 15-16

It was a good weekend in the world of film seeing as how A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth installment of the critically acclaimed Die Hard series made its debut earlier this week, and just as most would expect, it beat the rest of the competition. Very closely behind it was last week’s highest grossing film, Identity Thief. The season’s well-timed romance-tinged films made their mark as well, with Safe Haven sitting at spot no. 3, and Warm Bodies holding down the fort at no. 5.

Follow the jump for the rest of this week’s ten highest …

Identity Thief

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: February 8-9

This past weekend saw the dominance of Seth Gordan’s Identity Thief over the rest of the other films being shown in theater by a good gap of 20 million dollars in gross income. The film revolves around a comedic take on one of today’s biggest ongoing problems as it follows Jason Bateman’s character as he attempts to recover his identity, which was taken by the character played by Melissa McCarthy. The film had also performed so well that it now has the title of “biggest opening weekend of 2013”.

Last week’s top dog, Warm Bodies showed some lasting power with …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: January 4-6

Texas Chainsaw managed to murder the competition and claim a top spot for the weekend box office.

Just like last year’s The Devil Inside (which was also completely awful) a horror movie managed to top the box office at the beginning of the year. Despite Texas Chainsaw being poorly reviewed it managed to make the most, dethroning The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Django Unchained. This shows once again that people will come out in droves to see a maniac slice up scantily clad twenty-somethings. You can see the full top ten list and how much the movies made …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: November 9-11

I do not think it is a surprise to anyone that the new James Bond movie topped the charts this weekend. It has been met with stellar reviews and everyone everywhere wants to see more spy action from the iconic hero. Skyfall managed to displace the fantastic animated movie Wreck-It Ralph, which still made a ton of money and held on to a number two slot. You can see the full top ten list and how much the movies made after the jump.

Resident-Evil-Retribution

BOX OFFICE RESULTS: September 14-16

Zombies > Cartoon Fish

The box office numbers are finally getting back to where they should be and a leather adorned woman killing zombies led the way. Resident Evil: Retribution took the top spot at the box office this weekend, making even more than Finding Nemo 3D. The Disney/Pixar movie did well and came in second place. The top two movies made substantially more than anything else this weekend, especially that new propaganda piece Last Ounce Of Courage. You can see the full top ten list and how much the movies made after the jump.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: July 6-8

Spider-man tops the weekend box office proving, once again, that it is the summer of superheroes. Oliver Stone’s new movie, Savages was met with mediocre reviews and numbers, landing itself the number four slot this weekend. A few Katy Perry fans managed to get to the theater also as her new movie Part Of Me (which is a 3D concert, according to trailers I keep having to see on TV) made the top ten, but near the bottom at number eight. You can see the full top ten list from the weekend and how much each movie made after the …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: June 29 – July 1

Seth MacFarlane proves that a good comedy will always beat out shirtless dudes with Ted, which dominated the box office this weekend. The half animated bear half Marky Mark movie was the highest opening original rated R movie, probably because parents took their kids since, hey, it’s a bear that sounds like Peter Griffin. Magic Mike also did well, claiming the number two slot for the weekend. Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Camp Crystal Lake came in fourth overall, but still made a respectable amount of money. You can see the top ten list from the weekend and how …

Madagascar 3

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: June 15-17

It was a slow weekend for moviegoers, probably due to the new releases available to see. Rock Of Ages barely beat out Snow White And The Huntsman for a number three spot, most likely because no one under the age of forty is going to watch a movie where a 50 year old Tom Cruise is a rock god. Even more disappointing are the weekend numbers for That’s My Boy. Hopefully this means everyone is finally sick of Adam Sandler after his last terrible movie, Jack And Jill. You can see the top ten movies from the weekend …

Will Smith stars in Columbia Pictures' MEN IN BLACK 3.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: May 25-27

The Avengers have finally been dethroned as Men In Black 3 takes the top spot at the box office this week. After nearly a month on top The Avengers drops to second place while the family friendly Will Smith movie, Men In Black 3 wins over American audiences despite luke-warm reviews. Battleship continues to sink, and newly released Chernobyl Diaries ends up somewhere in the middle of the charts where it belongs. You can see the full top ten list from the weekend and how much each movie made after the jump.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: May 18-20

Once again The Avengers can not be defeated. Marvel’s hit superhero movie tops the chart yet again, making more than the three new major releases made combined. Taking second place this week was Battleship, which has proved that a board game no one plays after they turn 14 is a bad subject for a movie. Battleship has quite the fight ahead if it hopes to at least break even, as it cost just north of 200 million to make. You can see the top ten list for the weekend and how much the movies made after the jump.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS (April 27-29)

Hold the phone! Think Like A Man tops the box office for the second weekend in a row.

The Steve Harvey fueled romantic comedy made the most money yet again, edging out the newly released The Pirates! Band of Misfits by a few million dollars. The only other new release to make the top five list for weekend gross was The Five-Year Engagement, which stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt. The other new releases were not far behind, Safe and The Raven took the number six and seven spots respectively. You can see the full top ten list and …

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS (April 20-22)

Look out Tyler Perry, there’s a new all black cast movie in town. This week Think Like A Man destroyed the box office topping all previous movies of a similar nature (with the exception of Madea Goes To Jail). Think Like A Man is based on the Steve Harvey book Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man and stars an all black cast including Kevin Hart and Steve Harvey. Kevin Hart’s success with his recent comedy special Laugh At My Pain may be a contributing factor in the success of Think Like A Man, as he was …
