The Movielife Announce a Reunion

It brings me great pleasure to post something about Vinnie Caruana and the boys from The Movielife and not have to tell you to continue dreaming about a reunion.

Today, in an interview with Noisey, the band confirmed that they would indeed be reuniting. They will playing a one-off show in New York, at the Irving Plaza on February 7, which is all that is set in stone. But, in the midst of the interview, the band mentions that that show will just be the beginning.

“Our plan is to start at Irving Plaza and go from there. There are …

I Am The Avalanche Announce NYC Holiday Show

Excessive drinking [of eggnog] is well in order this evening, oh I, I couldn’t imagine any other way…

Some people like to associate Christmastime and the holidays in New York City with the tree at Rockefeller Center or singing songs and playing in the snow. For some, seeing Vinnie Caruana and the gang rocking your face off does the trick.

I Am The Avalanche took to Facebook about an hour ago to announce a special holiday show at The Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan on December 26. Iron Chic and The Scandals are set to open up the bill. The band …

UTG PREMIERE: Vinnie Caruana – “It’s Been Way Too Long”

Under The Gun Review is pleased to announce that we are premiering a new track by New York’s own Vinnie Caruana. “It’s Been Way Too Long” is an original track off of the soundtrack for the motion picture Bridge and Tunnel, which has been making waves across film festivals countrywide.

Since its inception, the independent flick has been ridden with the musical stylings of Long Island natives. The soundtrack, which is going to be released on vinyl through Enjoy The Ride Records, will feature original tracks by John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday), Gabriel The Marine, Ryan Hunter …

UTG PHOTOS: Bayside & I Am The Avalanche At Music Hall of Williamsburg (10/4/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York City to photograph Bayside on October 4, 2014.

Over the years, I have seen Bayside play on a vast array of stages, some with only a handful in the crowd and some with enormous festival crowds. Seeing Bayside play Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn was a very special show. MHoW isn’t the largest venue in the city, but it was perfect for Bayside’s Brooklyn hometown show and the venue was sold out and packed to the max.

UTG EXCLUSIVE: John Nolan Talks ‘Bridge And Tunnel,’ TBS, And Straylight Run

If you may have noticed, we here at Under The Gun Review are big supporters of the independent film Bridge and Tunnel, which features an overwhelming amount of talent from cast, to crew, to composers. A few months ago, we ran an interview with Ryan Hunter (NK, Envy On The Coast) where he discussed creating an original score for the film.

We are now proud to bring you an exclusive one-on-one sit-down with John Nolan, the renowned guitarist and vocalist of Taking Back Sunday. We spoke to Nolan on set of a video shoot for his track “Here …

MOVIE REVIEW: ‘Bridge and Tunnel’ Gets Long Island Right

Film: Bridge and Tunnel
Starring: Ryan Metcalf, Arjun Gupta, Mary Kate Wiles
Directed by: Jason Michael Brescia

Simply speaking, Bridge and Tunnel is the film I didn’t know I was waiting for. Director Jason Michael Brescia follows up his 2012 release The Newest Pledge in a complete directional change. This story fuses elements of humor, realism, tragedy, and camaraderie in a tale that isn’t flashy or forced. But to be honest, I think I enjoyed this movie because I am living this movie.

The plot takes place in current day Long Island, NY, where 20-somethings struggle to pave their lives’ …

WATCH: Vinnie Caruana Backed by Bellwether Play Two Tracks From The Movielife

As exciting as it is to see I Am the Avalanche back in action, there are still a few of us holding out hope that The Movielife would someday play shows again. So anytime Vinnie Caruana performs old Movielife tracks, we get even more pumped, as this is is about as close as it may get for awhile.

Last year he was caught playing “Walking on Glass” on his acoustic tour. This time, Vinnie shows up to front a couple of tracks (“Face or Kneecaps” and “Jamestown”), and is backed by Bellwether. This collab happened at a benefit show for …

Last week, our buddies in I Am The Avalanche dropped their third album worldwide. Wolverines is the highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s 2011 release, Avalanche United.

One week prior to release, the band streamed the album in its entirety through Billboard. By the time Looney Tunes CDs hosted IATA’s in-store appearance, most fans already knew the words to all of the new songs. Brooklyn New York’s I Am The Avalanche are scheduled to release their newest full-length, Wolverines, next week (March 18) through I Surrender Records, but as of this morning, you can stream the 10-track effort by heading over to Billboard.com.

Recorded at The Barber Shop Studio in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, this will be the group’s first album since 2011’s Avalanche United.

On this newest attempt, the four-piece has progressed their unique brand of gritty pop punk, resulting in a more structured, introspective final product. This is especially apparent on tracks like  “The Shape I’m In,” which …

I Am The Avalanche Release New Song “Where Were You”

I Am The Avalanche have released another song from their new album Wolverines, proving once again that they’re one of the best bands in pop-punk. You can check out “Where Were You” after the jump, or over at DIY where it’s streaming exclusively.

This track is one of the strongest new Avalanche tracks that we’ve heard so far. The band seems to tailor their songs for a live crowd while simultaneously creating strong and cohesive records, and this song is no exception. It seems like Wolverines covers more anthemic ground than its predecessor, with more focus on memorable hooks.…
