Stone Temple Pilots Have “Officially Terminated” Lead Singer Scott Weiland

Sounds like someone didn’t have a great performance review last quarter.

USA Today is reporting that 90s grunge survivors Stone Temple Pilots have fired lead singer and frontman Scott Weiland.

Word of Weiland’s removal from the band came from a one sentence press release from band publicist Kymm Britton.

Britton: “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”

Scott Weiland “Sorting Through” Velvet Revolver Reunion

Scott Weiland was the reason Stone Temple Pilots broke up, but then rejoined them. Turmoil with him and the reason of Velvet Revolver appears to have been the reason behind their demise. They did a one-off reunion earlier this year, followed by Scott saying he was set to rejoin VR and then Slash denying it several days later.

MUSIC HISTORY CLASS: Cocaine, Heroin, and Backing Tracks

On this day in in 1995, Stone Temple Pilots eccentric lead singer, Scott Weiland, was arrest in Pasadena, California on  cocaine and heroin possession charges. It was the first of his several drug-related arrests. Weiland claims that he was first introduced to heroin when vocalist Gibby Haynes gave Weiland some of the drug while Stone Temple Pilots was on tour with Hayne’s Butthole Surfers (oh…the band names in the 1990s). Haynes denies Weiland’s allegations.

Velvet Revolver drummer introduces art collection

Matt Sorum, drummer of Velvet Revolver, has launched an art collection. Sorum cites drumsticks as his inspiration, working with them on canvas. He has created a total of five pieces for the collection and will be selling 130 drafts which will be numbered and signed by Sorum.

Slash denies Glee, seeks Velvet Revolver vocalist

Regardless of what rock legend turns to reality T.V. this week, the spirit of rock and roll is still alive and well with Slash. In a new article with Rolling Stone, the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist revealed he had recently been approached by the producers of Glee and refused to give them permission to use G N’ R on the show. Jane’s Addiction Debut Duff McKagan at Perry Farrell’s Birthday Party

News of the addition of McKagan came just under a month shy of original bassist Eric Avery’s announcement that he was leaving Jane’s after reuniting with the group two years ago following a 17-year split from the band.
