65daysofstatic, Caspian, And TWIABP To Tour This November

The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die have hopped on quite a few tours lately – Finch, Brand New, and The Front Bottoms come to mind. Now they’ll hop on Caspian’s first band without their recently deceased bassist, both supporting UK headliners 65daysofstatic.

For some reason, TWIABP will not be on the Canadian dates (which is odd, since they were on the Canadian dates of the Front Bottoms tour, so it’s obviously not a passport reason). To check out the tour dates, stick around after the jump.…

Topshelf Records Sampler To Come Out July 11

Each year in the summer, Topshelf Records releases a free sampler (except for like, last year, where it came out in September when all you kids had gone back to school, but it was still warm and during the summer solstice so whatever). This year’s will come out on July 11. Though no track listing has been announced, it’s still exciting to know it’s coming so soon.

Topshelf is currently on a roll with great releases; The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die‘s Whenever, If Ever and A Great Big Pile Of

Modest Mouse

WATCH: One Hundred Year Ocean Perform Set As Modest Mouse

I wish more bands did things like this for Halloween. Phish is known to “be” other bands for Halloween, putting on what they call “musical costumes” and performing entire sets as a different band. That idea has spread to the New England indie scene, with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die side-project One Hundred Year Ocean having performed as Modest Mouse back on Halloween in 2011. Video from that performance has surfaced online, and it’s a great watch.

One Hundred Year Ocean will have an EP release coming out later this summer …

REVIEW: The World Is A Beautiful Place – ‘Whenever, If Ever’

Artist: The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die
Album: Whenever, If Ever
Genre: Emo, Post-rock
Label: Topshelf Records

For two months, I have been waiting to tear a record apart. I have taken extra time to do reviews because I had mixed feelings, and deeply wanted the positives to shine through and give a fair review despite an urge to rip something to shreds. For two months, I have wanted to destroy something someone else thought was beautiful, because that someone else was wrong. I have wanted this for two months because I …

PropertyOfZack Discusses Their First Concert

Our friends at fellow AbsoluteVoices site PropertyOfZack have a weekly discussion feature. This week, they’ve picked “My First Concert Experience”. In it, several staff members and musicians discuss their first concerts or shows and what it lead to.

As you’d expect, Zack’s involves a member of blink 182, but there are a handful of surprises on there. Some notable musicians who take part in the discussion are Matt Brasch from The Wonder Years and “Shitty” Greg Horbal from The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. It’s always fun to learn more about …
