Prawn Release New Music Video For “Settled”

New Jersey indie rock outfit Prawn just put out a new music video for their song “Settled.” The trumpet-imbued mercurial b-side track to the band’s last full-length record, Kingfisher, is brought to life in an unfinished house amidst the snowy woods in New Hampshire. This is also the title track to the band’s most recent 7-inch, which you can grab here.

The band shares: “It’s one of our favorite songs we’ve written collectively and it always seemed like it would pair well with a video,” and adds that filming it was “was one of the more fun weekends …

You Blew It! Share “Surf Wax America” Cover

We’re going surfing, we’re going surfing!”

You Blew It! have partnered with our good friends at Stereogum to share the first song off their upcoming Weezer cover album.

“Surf Wax America” is one of those formidable early 90s indie/punk anthems that has become synonymous with youth in the decades since its initial release. The members of You Blew It! recognize this, and it’s part of the reason they decided to cover the track for their forthcoming Blue Album covers EP. As guitarist/vocalist Tanner Jones explains:

We chose “Surf Wax” because it’s a really great song, plain and simple. We didn’t

Prawn Announce New Album ‘Kingfisher’

Indie/Emo band Prawn have officially announced their new album. We have been given a title, a tracklist, and an album cover. And we couldn’t be more excited.

The group’s third full-length, Kingfisher, will be released August 12 via Topshelf Records. It will be the follow-up to the 2012 release of Ships. It’s being produced by Gregory Dunn of Moving Mountians. It’s also clear, via the tracklist, that some of the tracks that they have released this year (“Why You Always Leave a Note” and “Laki”), will not be on the album, which is exciting. Can’t go …

Album: Split
Genre: Post-Hardcore
Label: Topshelf Records/Deathwish Inc.

When Topshelf Records and Deathwish Inc. announced they were doing a joint split between their bands Pianos Become the Teeth and Touché Amoré, respectively, it was considered a match made in heaven, at least on the internet (and let’s be honest, everything on the internet is true). These two bands are not only close friends, but their music and fanbases are so similar that everyone went out of their minds. Was it worth the hype? Yes. Yes it was.
