Tom Hardy Cast In ‘Splinter Cell’ Movie

Not even a month after Michael Fassbender was cast as the lead in the Assassin’s Creed adaptation and Wreck-It Ralph became the highest rated video game movie ever made (suck it, The Wizard), Variety reports that Inception and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy has been cast as Sam Fisher in the long-delayed film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.

The movie has had a long pre-production, with a teaser trailer shipping on the disk of the franchise’s second sequel 2006′s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory which you can watch after the break.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Dark Knight Rises

Movie: The Dark Knight Rises
Director: Christopher Nolan

I’ve been racking my brains for a week trying to think of some artistic analogy with which to introduce this film. I couldn’t muster one. In actual fact, I’m pleased this review is belated, because it’s given me the chance to take the film in twice and see my opinion do an almost total 180. I thought The Dark Knight Rises was a beautiful, contrarian disaster the first time I watched it – perhaps I was too overhyped or emotional, or a Friday evening viewing after a stressful week at work was …

WATCH: New Dark Knight Rises TV Spot

With just under two months to go until Christopher Nolan’s behemoth conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy hits cinema screens, the marketing campaign is stepping up a notch with a new TV spot. This 30-second clip uses mainly the same footage as the theatrical trailer, with a few chilling additions including Sir Michael Caine’s Alfred telling Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), “You’re not Batman anymore.” The breakneck pace, chaotic crowd scenes, and frenetic editing also give a further indication as to the extent of the carnage Tom Hardy’s ruthless Bane will bring to bear on Gotham.

Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman Make Bootlegging Look Cool In First “Lawless” Trailer

Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy are a pair of criminal brothers who become feared outlaws in Prohibition-era America in this the first trailer for Lawless.

Making its’ debut on Yahoo! this morning, our first look at Lawless paints a thriving (not to mention gorgeous) vision of the film’s source material, The Wettest Country In The World by Matt Bondurant. The story follows the Bondurant brothers, a pair of Southern bootleggers who find themselves the targeted by crooked Southern authorities out for a share of the profits. Gary Oldman, Jessica Chastain, and Guy Pearce round out the cast.

Lawless opens …

REASONABLE REMAKES: Hellraiser

Under The Gun is continuing our efforts to bring you more original and engaging content with REASONABLE REMAKES. Written by film-nerd Justin Proper, this column aims to highlight Hollywood’s forgotten gems and spark debate.

You see, we’ve grown tired of Hollywood rehashing ideas we’re old enough to remember. Why remake something the majority of the planet still remembers and loves deeply when there are tons of films that deserve a chance to be as great as modern technology and skill can make them? If you agree, this column is for you.

Everyone has their favorite horror franchise. Usually …

Valentine’s Day is only a few short weeks away 20th Century Fox hopes you will be spending that special day at the theater.

Announced just a short while ago, Fox is moving up the release of This Means War three days to hopefully draw in couples on our nation’s favorite Hallmark Holiday. Considering the story revolves around a love triangle between CIA Agents (one of whom is Tom Hardy, AKA Bane), they will probably get the response they wanted.

In case of any of you have been living under a rock or simply living away from advertising, click past the …

MOVIE REVIEW: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

Film: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Director: Tomas Alfredson
Starring: Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy

Those in America will have the benefit of watching this without the shadow of a masterly 1970s adaptation by the BBC clouding their vision. For many in Europe, Alec Guinness (he of Obi-Wan fame) had turned in the definitive portrayal of John Le Carré’s fabled spy creation George Smiley, so much so that even a respected and versatile actor such as Gary Oldman had his work cut out. Oldman has, however, proved a reliable and deserving choice for the part, turning in an outstanding performance …

MOVIE TRAILER: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Before Michael Bay made it a pre-requisite that every action film be as outrageous as possible, there used to be a fine art in filmmaking known as “spy films.” Sure a few good ones have come in recent years, but as a whole, the craft of subtlety has not exactly been a hit in recent pop culture.

This will (hopefully) change later this year when Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy arrives in theaters. Directed by a man I would honestly bow to, Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In), the film stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, and …
