Baseball season has about a month and a half left, with the playoffs slowly but surely approaching. With this being said, grindcore baseball-themed band Puig Destroyer will be releasing a debut full-length album that is about none other than, you guessed it…baseball.

The band, including members Riley Breckinridge (Thrice), Ian Miller & John Howell (Kowloon Walled City), and Mike Minnick (Curl Up and Die), will be releasing their self-titled effort on September 30 through No Sleep Records, where the announced release date is officially the beginning of the MLB playoffs. Watch Live Footage of Dustin Kensrue (Thrice) Covering Lorde’s “Buzzcut Season”

Thrice may be slowly but surely transitioning out of their hiatus, but frontman Dustin Kensrue has been steadily keeping up his solo efforts to back his second full-length album, The Water And The Blood. Recently at Dallas, TX’s Pegasus Music Festival, Kensrue whooped out a cover of “Buzzcut Season,” which comes off of Lorde’s debut album, Pure Heroine.

We don’t know why he had chosen to cover one of 2013′s breakout artists at this festival, but we do know that we absolutely loved the performance. Follow the jump to watch a fan-made recording, and be sure to …

Riley Breckenridge Posts New Puig Destroyer Tracks

If you’ve been keeping up with the members of Thrice and what they’re doing now, you’ve certainly heard of Riley Breckenridge and his involvement with Puig Destroyer; one intense, loud, almost thrash-filled project that’s as entertaining as it is terrifying.

It’s quite the departure from Thrice, but that’s half of the fun. With every track he releases, I just find myself laughing more. The metal roots that were heard in some of Riley’s drumming all throughout the existence of Thrice are alive and more evolved than ever before, and its fitting. It’s also sure to abandon some of you and …

Thrice, TREOS, Hopesfall, The Casket Lottery Members Working On New Project

From the looks of an Instagram post from The Receiving End Of Sirens‘ Brian Southall, Thrice‘s Eddie Breckenridge, The Casket Lottery‘s Nathan Ellis, Hopesfall‘s Jason Trabue, and Southall himself are working on some kind of project. No details have been announced regarding the project, but it sure looks like they’re forming a supergroup. The caption says that they’re rehearsing, so some sort of live show or recording should be coming in the future.

You can check out Southall’s post after the jump. As a pretty big TREOS fan, I’m definitely interested in seeing what happens with …

Now, after more than a year out of the spotlight, Kensrue has announced plans to follow his debut with a new album release later this year.

Hitting stores October 1 via BEC Recordings/Mars Hill Music, The Water and The Blood will be the first musical offering from Kensrue since Thrice …

Thrice’s Riley Breckenridge Starts A Baseball-Themed Grindcore Band

If there can be a whole genre dedicated to video games, then why not America’s favorite pastime? Well that was probably the thought process of Thrice’s Riley Breckenridge when he started Puig Destroyer.

Breckenridge is joined by Mike Minnick (Curl Up & Die), Ian Miller and John Howel (Kowloon Walled City) for this band that’s piquing a lot of interest. The Ghost Is Clear Records will be releasing a 7” of the band’s self-titled EP. Fans and people just interested in what a baseball-themed grindcore band will sound like can expect that “fairly soon,” according to the band, but you …

Manchester Orchestra and Thrice have released the artwork for their high-anticipated split and can be viewed right here on Under The Gun Review.

The most exciting part of the news, besides the awesome cover, is the fact O’Brother will be appearing on Manchester Orchestra’s track. We did not even consider a curve ball like that from either band. There is currently no set release date but we will keep up on the latest news from each group.

The band is currently on hiatus. Let’s hope it ends soon so we can get more new tunes rather than just live recordings (although this is a pretty good live album.)

You can hear both discs as separate playlists here by clicking “Read more.”…
