J.Cole And The Roots Perform “Power Trip” Live On Fallon

J.Cole made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform his Miguel-featured single “Power Trip.” Along with Cole for the set was legendary late night rockers The Roots.

The single will come off of J.Cole’s forthcoming sophomore effort, Born Sinner, which hits shelves on June 18 via Roc Nation.

Justin Timberlake Confirms ‘The 20/20 Experience’ Follow-Up

So get this, on the very night before the release of his third album, Justin Timberlake has just confirmed that ?uestlove’s mention of The 20/20 Experience being a two-part release is legitimate.

Although JT doesn’t give any insight on a release date, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that The Roots drummer was on point when he said that it’s looking to be dropped in November.

Chicago hip-hop frontrunner Lupe Fiasco teamed up with Guy Sebastian and The Roots to deliver a performance of “Battle Scars” on last night’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, the producer and drummer most famed for being the leader of hip hop band The Roots, has a new job. In addition to being a session musician and band leader for the Philadelphia based band that doubles as Jimmy Fallon’s house band, the drummer will be teaching a class at NYU.

The class? “Classic Albums”  at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for this Spring semester. The class will be two credits, and focus on classic albums that stand out historically one way or another – be it production, songwriting, ingenuity, or something else. …

It seems like Kendrick Lamar just can’t stay out of the news. The rapper has been dropping new songs, made multiple radio appearances, and last night appeared on the popular Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, all to promote his coming album good kid, m.A.A.d city.

Yup, this is the third Frank Ocean post in a row on UTG this evening. A first? Yes. Unwarranted? No.

STREAM/DOWNLOAD: The Roots & Monsters Of Folk – Dear God 2.0 (Zeds Dead Remix)

Under The Gun is bringing you quite the treat this morning, a remix of a cover. The Roots decided to cover Monsters of Folk’s (Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward, Mike Mogis) song “Dear God” and now Toronto dubstep duo Zeds Dead have turned the tables by remixing their version.

For Zeds’ interpretation they decided to incorporate an electro feel, with plenty of womps to pick this song up. It is definitely an interesting rendition you need to hear!

Nas And The Roots Perform “Nasty” On Fallon

Nas teamed up with The Roots last night for a performance of “Nasty” and UTG has the footage.

Never one to disappoint on record or stage, Nas appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night during the show’s taping at Madden Bowl Bud Light Hotel in Indianapolis. While there, the “Hate Me Now” rapper joined forces with house band The Roots to perform his incendiary single “Nasty” to a packed house. You can view the performance after the jump.
