The Offspring 2012

WATCH: The Offspring – “Gone Away” Featuring Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara)

The Offspring have long done stripped down performances of “Gone Away”. I vividly recall Dexter Holland playing piano alone for several performances; on their recent tour with Dead Sara, they performed it in this style, but as a duet with Dead Sara vocalist Emily Armstrong. Emily’s voice is amazing live (if you’ve never seen them, go see them with Muse), and this duet gives her a decent opportunity to show off her voice.

REVIEW: The Offspring – Days Go By

Artist: The Offspring
Album: Days Go By
Genre: Punk rock/pop-punk
Label: Columbia

Days Go By is an album cloven in three. It’s an unusual mixture of styles and experiments, veering dramatically from the cocksure, cheeky Offspring quirks we know and love to something far more pointed and sombre to something downright bizarre. It’s a good record, and makes for a stirring 40 minutes or so of listening, but it takes a few plays to really settle and even then it’s easy to pick out a few oddities. Being that this is the band’s ninth album, diversions in sound are to …

The Offspring 2012

The Offspring Perform On Jimmy Kimmel Live

The Offspring were special musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and performed their title track “Days Go By” as well as the classic “Self Esteem.”

The guys rocked out both songs and the mid-90′s nostalgia came rushing back, for most of our staff. If you enjoyed the performance please be sure to pick up The Offspring’s new effort, Days Go By, released through Columbia Records.

Check out these energetic performances after thje jump and let UTG know if you experienced some flashbacks over the course of these two clips!

What The Hell Happened To The Offspring?

The Offspring have released a new song and fans hoping for a continued legacy of rock goodness may want to cover their ears and run for cover.

Released earlier today, “Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Truck)” is a pop-friendly track about fun in the sun in the state of California. While I’m all for a good time, I also happen to remember when The Offspring kicked too much ass to exist in the same realm as top 40 radio and to hear them reduced to a pathetic joke version of their “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)” selves is disheartening. …

Refused Announce Detroit Show, Tour Rumors Fly

Following another period of extended radio silence, Refused have announced plans to perform in Detroit, MI later this year.

People went apeshit when Refused announced plans to reunite earlier this year. Shows in California and New York sold out almost instantly and the rest of us, well, the rest of us have been sitting around hoping a tour would be announced. Today we learned that the Royal Oak Music Theater will be welcoming Refused wsg: Off! on July 25 (tickets on sale Friday), which forces us to ask: Is a tour announcement on the horizon?

Rumors have been circling a …

Update on The Offspring’s ninth album

The Offspring have been hard at work, recording their NINTH album, and are pretty close to finishing it! A message from the band can be read below.

“There’s still a lot to be done but we hope to finish it up really quickly and I think we will as we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.. I think we are about 12 or 13 songs in. They probably won’t all go on the record but we have some good stuff. It’s going to be great and it’s going to be the best damn record we ever
