Lydia Aiming For Fall Release, Post Studio Preview

Gilbert, Arizona indie duo, Lydia, are recording a new album with the aim of releasing it this Fall. Leighton Antelman and Craig Taylor will once again be working with producer Matt Malpass (Decoder, The Ready Set). Lydia has worked with Malpass on their previous three releases. Antelman and Malpass even started a band together called The Cinema and released their debut, My Blood is Full of Airplanes, last year.

A couple months ago when indie-pop duo, The Cinema, announced that they would be delving into hip-hop, many shook their heads. Some thought of scene-producer mastermind Matt Malpass and Lydia singer Leighton Antelman rhyming and/or producing a hip-hop adventure as far-fetched or even foolish. Alas, the duo made good on their word…without Antelman coming up with the bars thankfully.

The Cinema/Lydia Are Recording, Hint at New Project

According to a Facebook/Twitter update by producer Matt Malpass, a brand new project has taken root and will feature Lydia‘s Leighton Antelman and musician Sean Rogers who records under the name Somnous.

The project will be Hip-Hop based and is hinted to sound like “The Cinema + Kid Cudi.” One song has been revealed to be titled “Macaroni & Police Reports,” a result of the writing phase the musicians are currently undergoing.

Leighton Antelman is hastily becoming a household name in the indie music scene between his distinguishable voice, success with band Lydia, and now his new project with friend and producer Matt Malpass. The two came together with a common goal and have created a new project called The Cinema. They just released their much-anticipated debut album My Blood is Full of Airplanes this week and it’s already being raved about online and elsewhere.
