REVIEW: The Amity Affliction – ‘Let The Ocean Take Me’

Artist: The Amity Affliction
Album: Let The Ocean Take Me
Genre: Metalcore
Label: Roadrunner Records

It may be hard to believe, but The Amity Affliction have been together since 2003. They didn’t release their first studio album until 2008 though, and they didn’t really pick up in popularity until their third album Chasing Ghosts came out in 2012. In that short amount of time though they have earned themselves a huge, passionate fan base. Even if you hadn’t heard of them before 2012, you probably did after Chasing Ghosts came out. If you still aren’t familiar with them, then that …

The Amity Affliction Frontman Writes An Open Letter About Newest Single

The Amity Affliction recently released a new single off their upcoming album, Let The Ocean Take Me. Apparently after the release of the song, the band was flooded with messages from fans about the lyrics in it. This has prompted their frontman, Joel Birch, to write an open letter addressing his lyrics in general, and specifically the lyrical content of “Don’t Lean On Me.”

In a nutshell, Birch states that while he loves that fans feel they can relate to his lyrics and he enjoys them reaching out, he also struggles with handling the intensity of those messages due …

Though the chorus for this song isn’t quite as catchy as the one in “Pittsburgh,” it’s still a solid single. The band is known for their clever writing, and it will be interesting to hear what the rest of the tracks …

UTG PHOTOS: Hollow Bodies Tour (5/1/14)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped over at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, MI on May 1 to catch the Hollow Bodies Tour.

First off, before I get into everything, I just want to say how relieved I am that it’s no longer cold in my home state of Michigan. If you’ve seen any of my past photo sets from this year, you’ll know how much I despise the cold weather and utterly love the warm weather. So I went and attended what has been known as The Hollow Bodies Tour, which has swept through the entire …

SINGLE REVIEW: The Amity Affliction – “Pittsburgh”

Artist: The Amity Affliction
Single: “Pittsburgh”
Album: Let The Ocean Take Me
Label: Roadrunner Records

Back in 2012, The Amity Affliction released a raw, heartfelt album titled Chasing Ghosts. That was their third studio album, and it was their darkest release to date. It happens to be my favorite release of theirs so far, and now it seems they are on the path to releasing yet another emotion-gripping album later this year. Early this morning they officially announced their new album, Let The Ocean Take Me, as well as its release date, and the lead …

The lyricism of this band has to be some of my favorite in the music scene right now. Their verses are so well written and so raw; it’s easy for anyone to make a connection …

The Amity Affliction Diss Matty Mullins Of Memphis May Fire

A fan at Warped Tour caught The Amity Affliction on video “dissing” Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire. We’re not sure what sparked this distaste toward the musician, but something obviously has their vocalist fired up. You can watch the nearly one minute long video by taking a look below the jump.
