Quentin Tarantino Would Like To Release A ‘Django Unchained’ TV Miniseries

Cannes has been under way for several days now, and as anticipated a flurry of exciting and bizarre headlines have begun to emerge. One of the most interesting, at least as far as cult film fans are concerned, involves a special announcement made by none other than Quentin Tarantino a few short nights ago.

While addressing a room of press and fans, Tarantino expressed a desire to transform Django Unchained into a four-hour, four-part TV miniseries. To accomplish this, the director would take the current film and insert footage originally left on the cutting room floor. “I have about 90 …

Ten Cool Things I Saw at ‘Fun Fun Fun Fest’

In a sea of festivals lacking a personal identity, Austin’s ‘Fun Fun Fun Fest’ is truly one in (seemingly) a million. Now in its 8th year, ‘FFF’ specializes in a unique blend of metal and hardcore, indie rock and old-school hip-hop across three genre-themed musical stages, in addition to a comedy tent and skate ramp.

The resulting lineup was drastically different than any other festival poster you’ve seen this year: Slayer, Ice-T, Television, Sarah Silverman, Snoop Dogg and Descendents (just to name a few). Did I mention the world’s first and only Taco Cannon? It’s literally a cannon that launches …

WATCH: Kanye West’s Full Interview On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel have had a large on going feud where both sides seemed a tad out of place. Kimmel mocked West’s interview with the BBC, using children to quote West in an attempt to mock him. West responded with over the top angry Twitter rants that were unwitty and petty. The two were accused of it being a publicity stunt, but it appears that this was not the case.

Last night, Kanye West had a lengthy appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. As such, it makes for a compelling interview, with West explaining his reaction as overcompensation …

Battle Royale May Become A TV Series

Any self-respecting film fan ought to be pretty darned familiar with Japanese cult classic Battle Royale, released way back when in 2001 (although it wasn’t officially released in the U.S. until 2011). Based on the novel by Koushun Takami, it tells the tale of a futuristic, totalitarian Japanese society which forces a group of schoolchildren to fight each other to the death on a remote island. Long mooted for a U.S. remake, it seems the film may now get its English-language makeover by way of TV.…

REASONABLE REMAKES: The Return Of “Dallas”

Under The Gun is continuing our efforts to bring you more original and engaging content with REASONABLE REMAKES. Written by film-nerd Justin Proper, this column aims to highlight Hollywood’s forgotten gems and spark debate.

You see, we’ve grown tired of Hollywood rehashing ideas we’re old enough to remember. Why remake something the majority of the planet still remembers and loves deeply when there are tons of films that deserve a chance to be as great as modern technology and skill can make them? If you agree, this column is for you.

This week’s guest columnist: UTG Editor James
