Wrapped up in The Amazing Spider-Man’s web this weekend, few noticed the other new releases that snuck into national theaters underneath the radar. Although all debuted to unimpressive numbers, the most surprising result came from Katy Perry’s tour documentary Part of Me which collected a paltry $7.1 million to land in 8th place. The film’s $12 million dollar production budget shouldn’t be difficult to recoup for distributor Paramount Pictures so it’s premature to call the concert flick a financial disaster, but the result is still disappointing. The studio had hoped to replicate the success of similar small-budget artist-based …

SINGLE REVIEW: Katy Perry – Part Of Me
Artist: Katy Perry
Song: Part Of Me
Album: Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection
Label: Capitol
Yesterday, Katy Perry followed an underwhelming Grammy performance with the release of her latest single, “Part Of Me.” Considering the amount of effort Perry and her label have put into finding the golden sixth #1, the UTG staff eagerly tuned in to hear what the queen of “California Girls” had to offer. For anyone who missed the premiere, here is the lyric video for “Part Of Me.”
IT NEVER ENDS: Katy Perry In Talks For 3D Concert Film
The majority of music listeners may be sick of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, but apparently Paramount thinks differently.
The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier tonight that Perry has entered into discussion with Paramount about making a 3D concert film centered on the vocalist’s highly acclaimed live show. Details are still scarce and no director has been announced, but given the success Paramount found with Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never, this one seems poised to become a reality sooner than later. You can read the entire article, here.
I really thought our last few posts about Perry, coupled with …
DOUBLE DAMMIT: Katy Perry Announces “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection”
Last week we brought you a lengthy rant about our frustrations over Katy Perry’s decision to once again release a remix of “The One The Got Away” in hopes of breaking a world record. This week, she outdoes herself once again.
Just a few short moments ago Under The Gun Review received an email announcing the March release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. What is this nonsense you ask? Nothing more than a reissue of Perry’s 2010 (yes, 20-f*cking-10) album, complete remixes and her bullshit grabs for #1s released along the way.
There is no definite track list …
GIVE UP: Katy Perry’s “One That Got Away” Peaks On Chart, Decides To Release ANOTHER Remix
Dammit Katy Perry, I thought we talked about this (at least twice). Just because you want something does not mean you should, or ever will, have it.
As we have been covering for months, Katy Perry is still trying to claim the Guinness record for most #1 singles on a single album. She tied Michael Jackson with five in the fall and had hoped “The One The Got Away” would give her the all-important sixth hit, but the public just was not interested.
Never one to back down very easily, Perry and her team recruited Atlanta rapper …
MUSIC VIDEO: Katy Perry – The One That Got Away
With all the hype Katy Perry has been giving her new music video, “The One That Got Away,” you can expect a huge debut; I can’t doubt that at all.
The music video portrays Katy as a young adult with her love and as an older woman, pondering her past. This is one of Katy’s darkest videos with a lot of emotion. The song comes off her latest release, Teenage Dream.
Check out the video after the jump to see a different side of Katy Perry.
Katy Perry Wants The Pop Crown, UTG Wants To Take Her Down
We’ve mentioned it before, but today Billboard is running an article on Katy Perry’s new single, “The One That Got Away.” This will be Perry’s sixth single from her 2010 album Teenage Dream and if it goes number one she will become the first musician in history to achieve six number ones from a single album.
This is not okay.
Earlier this year, Perry made headlines when a remix of “Last Friday Night” helped her fifth single make number one, tying the all time record set by Michael Jackson. Now take a moment and reflect on all the pop music …
Katy Perry Announces Sixth “Teenage Dream” Single, UTG Pleads For It To Stop
Okay, I wasn’t going to say anything, but we really need to band together and collectively put a stop to Katy Perry’s gluttonous domination of the pop charts. Teenage Dream was a solid pop record, but I think few would agree she deserved to tie Michael Jackson, and now she’s out to oust the king once and for all.
Today Perry and her people announced a sixth single from Dream, “The One The Got Away,” will be released to radio in the near future. We assume a video will follow shortly thereafter.
If Perry’s chart success continues, …
