Sony to Make ALF Movie

The Hollywood Reporter announced that Sony recently acquired the licence to make a movie based on the 1986′s television show “Alf”. It’s being made into family friendly version of this year’s Ted, with a combination of Live Action and CGI characters. The picture will be produced by Jordan Kerner, who has also created the Live Action/CGI The Smurfs and 2013′s The Smurfs 2.

ALF was a television show in the 1980s about an Alien Life Form come to Earth and begins living with a middle class family while hiding from shadowy government figures. Paul Fusco is expected …

EDITORIAL: “Ted: How a Foul-Mouthed Teddy Bear Broke Box Office Records”

The man who made his name in raunchy comedy is once again laughing his way to the bank. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s first motion picture, the R-rated Ted, opened to a stellar $54.1 million this weekend, exceeding studio expectations by $10-15 million. The result places the comedy, which finds tough guy Mark Wahlberg struggling to balance the challenges of adult life with the demands of his crude, talking teddy bear, in 8th place on the list of highest opening weekends for an R-rated flick. WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS: June 29 – July 1

Seth MacFarlane proves that a good comedy will always beat out shirtless dudes with Ted, which dominated the box office this weekend. The half animated bear half Marky Mark movie was the highest opening original rated R movie, probably because parents took their kids since, hey, it’s a bear that sounds like Peter Griffin. Magic Mike also did well, claiming the number two slot for the weekend. Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Camp Crystal Lake came in fourth overall, but still made a respectable amount of money. Mark Wahlberg is taking his first bow as a comedic lead in this Summer’s Ted.

Written by (and co-starring) Seth MacFarlane, Ted follows a man and his stuffed animal best friend that happens to be alive.
