CHON Stream First Single From Sumerian Records Debut, ‘Grow’

I’ll be the first to admit how bummed I am about how late this post is.

However, in typical CHON fashion, the first single from their upcoming full-length, Grow, is an absolute thrill of a listen. Chock full of groove and technical prowess, and devoid of any vocals as per usual, “Story” is CHON at their finest. You can enjoy the new single via nature-based, kaleidoscopic video below.

Grow will be released through the band’s new label home of Sumerian Records on March 23. CD pre-order bundles are available now through a handful of online locations, along with several …

REVIEW: Stick To Your Guns – ‘Disobedient’

Artist: Stick To Your Guns
Album: Disobedient
Genre: Hardcore Punk
Label: Sumerian Records

Even though they may have taken the world by storm with their critically acclaimed 2012 release Diamond, an extra step was needed in order for Stick To Your Guns to solidify their place in the punk rock and hardcore world as one of the most important acts in the scene. That step is showcased in Disobedient, a punk outcry filled with uplifting lyrics and genre-changing melodies. While keeping relentless riffs and screaming vocals intact, the band has evolved to a more polished overall sound with …

Night Riots Howl

Stream Night Riots’ Outstanding New EP, ‘Howl’

California rock outfit Night Riots have teamed with Earmilk to begin streaming their highly anticipated EP, Howl. Check it out after the break.

A follow-up to 2013’s Hallowed Ground, Howl finds the Sumerian five-piece stretching their creative muscles with the help of producer Eric Palmquist (The Mars Volta). The opener, “Oh My Heart,” welcomes listeners with a wave of pulsating synth, only to be followed by the aptly titled “Contagious,” which swells to a sky-high hook that seems destined for mainstream greatness. “Break” plays out like a carefree Hot Fuss B-side, while “Follow You” seems to have …

It’s likely that Juggernaut: Omega will be streamed in the next day or so. Be sure to check in again soon to hear that album as well. If you like what you hear, you can still purchase pre-order bundles through MerchNow.…

From first to last

From First To Last Sign With Sumerian Records

The recently reunited From First To Last, now featuring Periphery vocalist Spencer Sotelo, have announced that they have joined the Sumerian Records roster and will be releasing their new album under the label.

While I admire the label’s ability to pick up a band as big as From First To last, this is a confusing move to me. The band successfully funded their new record via Kickstarter late last year and have already released a new single, “Dead Trees.” Considering the album is done and paid for, why make the move to a label as big as …

Periphery

Periphery Premiere Title Track, “Alpha”

Periphery keep on releasing singles to further promote their highly anticipated dual album Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega, with singles “The Scourge,” “The Bad Thing,” and “Graveless” having surfaced thus far.

The band has now shared the title track off Juggernaut: Alpha for more of your listening pleasure. The progressive sextet never cease to amaze with their musical capabilities and they have unsurprisingly nailed it on this effort as well. You can check the stream the song below after the jump.…

VOM 2015

Veil Of Maya Stream New Song, “Phoenix,” Showcase New Vocalist

Yesterday, as promised, Veil of Maya unveiled a new track titled “Phoenix.” Taken from the outfit’s upcoming full-length, which is slated to hit shelves later this year via Sumerian Records, it is the first glimpse fans have received of Lukas Magyar, who joined the group following the departure of vocalist Brandon Butler. Check it out below.

As a longtime VOM fan, I’ll be the first to admit that this latest effort is pretty disappointing. Strung together by run-of-the-mill riffs, “Phoenix” makes no attempt to stand out, and while Magyar’s vocals aren’t terrible, he has yet to grasp Veil’s …

Periphery

Periphery Stream “Graveless” Off ‘Juggernaut: Omega’

We are now less than a month away from the release of Periphery‘s upcoming albums, Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega. Up until today the group has released a handful of songs between the two albums. Now they have teamed up with Metal Sucks to premiere another new single off Omega. The new track is titled “Graveless,” and you can listen to it below.

Needless to say, fans are excited for the two albums to hit stores. It’s not very often an artist drops 17 brand new tracks all at once – especially a metal band. If you …

CHON

CHON Sign With Sumerian Records

After independently releasing two EPs over the past two years, California progressive rock outfit CHON have revealed they are the newest addition to Sumerian Records’ roster. Along with the exciting announcement that finds them among the ranks of Animals As Leaders and Periphery, the group have also stated their debut full-length will hit stores via Sumerian in 2015.

For those who have yet to experience CHON, we highly suggest following the jump and checking out the outfit’s performance of “Puddle” for Audiotree Live. It’s truly modern musicianship at its finest.…

Stick To Your Guns Share Lyric Video For “What Choice Did You Give Us?”

Stick To Your Guns are always vocal when it comes to political issues in the United States and with the recent events involving social injustices, the band released a new song today that coincides with these issues. The song is called “What Choice Did You Give Us?” and it is featured on their upcoming album Disobedient that will be released on February 10 via Sumerian Records.

With the song’s release, an animated lyric video was also released which features various visuals of warfare and depression. Check out what frontman Jesse Barnett had to say about the new song on the …
