A Musical Journey Through The Year 2014

2014. What a whirlwind of a year it has been. My life was changing in both my professional and personal life so quickly it was at the point where my physical body couldn’t keep up (I may have gained a few pounds along the way). And now the year has come to a close. Along this roller coaster year, there were album releases that I already expected to be great and others I learned to adore. Then there were others that were somewhat disappointing that I held on such high regard. But in the end, I did appreciate every piece …

The Year of Rediscovery: Corey From’s End of the Year List

This year has been an interesting one for me, as far as music goes. I had an awakening. In one sense, it was weird, because as a late bloomer in the music scene, 2003-2004 were some prime years for me in developing my tastes. So to have artists like Coheed & Cambria, Midtown, blink-182, etc. all have anniversary years/shows/represses this year was cool for nostalgia and remembering my roots. With that being said, upon starting at UTG, my music taste was very far left of a majority of the stuff covered on this website, and I’d still say it’s not …

Such Gold Premiere Strange Music Video For “Faced”

Melodic punk rockers Such Gold released their passionate new album, The New Sidewalk, via Razor & Tie Records, earlier this month, with much praise here at UTG.

The band has released a music video (via Fuse) for “Faced,” the lead single which was streamed alongside the initial album announcement. The video is rather weird and thrilling, showing an old man taking pills after a disgruntled sleep, followed by paint falling from the top of the ceiling down the four-walled room. There are also live shots of the band who have the same problem, yet they continue to …

REVIEW: Such Gold – ‘The New Sidewalk’

Artist: Such Gold
Album: The New Sidewalk
Label: Razor & Tie Records
Genre: Punk, Melodic Hardcore

Whenever a band is releasing a new album, I always observe how their music has evolved in a lot of aspects. This can include the band’s direction in sound, what the members have done to progress in their respective playing abilities, how personal their lyrics are, who is producing the album, etc.

Being an early listener of Rochester, NY’s melodic hardcore band Such Gold, I have seen the overall aroma of the band grow with each release in terms of lyrics, production, and …
