John Williams Tentatively Set to Score ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

From the mouth of J.J. Abrams himself, legendary composer John Williams is slated to score the latest installment in the Star Wars series. While it’s not officially locked down, J.J. Abrams has gone on record at a Star Trek: Into Darkness press conference saying,

Again, for Star Wars, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.

In addition to the rest of the Star Wars films, John Williams has scored some of your favorites such as the Indiana Jones series, Lincoln, …

‘Star Wars’ Coming to a Theater Near You Every Summer Starting 2015

Disney and Lucasfilm announced today at CinemaCon that Star Wars: Episode VII will be coming out in the Summer of 2015. This was expected, but here’s the twist: after Episode VII comes out, Disney will put out a Star Wars film EVERY Summer. Yes, every single Summer. How is that possible production wise? Well let me break it down:

In the Summer of 2015, we’ll be getting an “Episode” Star Wars film that concerns the greater Star Wars universe. Then the next year in 2016 viewers will get to see a solo film based on a single character (rumor is …

Carrie Fisher Confirms Her Return As Princess Leia In ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

I’m starting to think we might as well have a weekly roundup column dedicated to Star Wars news and rumors…

While the world waits to find out whether or not Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will reprise their roles in the Star Wars franchise when JJ Abrams takes the helm for Epsiode VII in 2015, another key performer from the original series has confirmed her plans to return.

Speaking with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher was blatantly asked her connection to Star Wars: Episode VII with the question, “Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” …

Mark Hamill in the Talks to Reprise his Role as Luke Skywalker in New Star Wars Film

Not surprising but nevertheless exciting: the hero of the original Star Wars trilogy, Mark Hamill, is in the talks to return to his character of Luke Skywalker in the newest Star Wars film. According to Entertainment Weekly, Hamill has been waiting to meet with writer Michael Ardnt and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy about what his involvement would be like in the film, but everyone has been really busy because, you know, they’re in the process of making a new Star Wars film and things get hectic.

That being said, Hamill is really interested in putting his jedi cloak back …

RUMOR: Harrison Ford Confirmed for Star Wars: Episode VII

Well now that we have a director confirmed, it’s time for an onslaught of casting rumors. Latino Review (who all things considered is a relatively trustworthy source) has announced that director J.J. Abrams has confirmed Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Han Solo in the next installment in the Stars Wars series.

Now, I know most Star Wars fans are hyperventilating, and I just caught my breath too. But until I hear it directly from Disney themselves, I’m going to take every rumor with a huge grain of salt. However this casting rumor isn’t totally unreasonable. Harrison Ford has …

HOLY SH!T: Disney Unveils Plans For Boba Fett, Young Han Solo Movies

Um, WOAH.

Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive scoop on some of the Walt Disney Company’s future machinations for the Star Wars franchise.

Apparently the company has some tentative plans to begin developing movies centered around two of the more beloved characters in the Star Wars canon, Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Can you say spin-offs?

HOLY SH!T: J.J. Abrams To Direct STAR WARS VII

Rumors may end… now. Despite previous reports from the man himself, J.J. Abrams will be directing the return debut of the Star Wars franchise.

Conflicting reports have thrown several hats into the directoral ring since Disney’s acquisition of the franchise. Names included Ben Affleck, Joss Whedon, and Darren Aronofsky amongst many fan favorites.

Alas, as Deadline reports, the mastermind behind the Star Trek films will have his hand on another of the galactic geek epics. Michael Arndt will write the film.

What do you think? Good call?

RUMOR: Darth Vader Returns From Dead, Fans Die of Sadness

I absolutely hate that Star Wars got announced for new movies purely because there’s loads and loads of rumors flying around that probably have little to no substantiating evidence. Alas, UTG is a group of Star Wars nerds, and we are going to cover a lot of those rumors. But we promise to at least be a little snarky in the process.

Today’s rumor from UK tabloid (the only reason I’m running something from a tabloid is because respected /Film ran it too) is that Darth Vader will return from the grave in the new Star Wars trilogy. Yes, you …

Writer Of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ And ‘Toy Story 3′ To Write New ‘Star Wars’

On October 30, we told you of the plans of Disney’s to make a new Star Wars film by 2015. We now have the first of details to share: Michael Arndt is slated to write the script, having already pitched a treatment to the people in charge. If the plot follows the treatment, the next movie would continue the Skywalker story, with new characters involved.

Carrie Fisher has already said she’d be interested in an appearance. Mark Hammill also made some comments which can be read here; given that the story is about Skywalker, it seems he’d be …
