UTG INTERVIEW: Sullivan Discuss ‘Heavy Is The Head’

Last year, the guys in Sullivan announced the end of their seven-year hiatus, and shortly after confirmed the details of a brand new album. The group signed to Spartan Records, and dropped one of my personal favorite albums of 2014 – Heavy Is The Head.

Since they got back together they have kept themselves busy with touring all over the country. We are excited to have the opportunity to steal some of their time away while they are taking a brief break from touring to ask them a few questions about their latest effort.

REVIEW: Sullivan – ‘Heavy Is The Head’

Artist: Sullivan
Album: Heavy Is The Head
Genre: Alt. rock
Label: Spartan Records

To the excitement of many fans, including some of us here at UTG, Sullivan announced the end of their hiatus, as well as details for a new full-length album. They were officially on hiatus for seven years, starting in 2007. During that time they did self-release an acoustic EP featuring songs from their previous work, but at the time they did not make public any plans to get back together. Lucky for us though, they did decide to release some brand new music, and I think it’s …

Sullivan Stream An Acoustic Version Of “Pieces”

Sullivan‘s highly anticipated studio album, Heavy Is The Head, officially hits stores tomorrow. So far the group shared with us some very promising singles, including one titled “Pieces.” The band isn’t done promoting their album just yet, and they recently took some time to create a special treat for fans.

Earlier today Sullivan revealed a live recorded acoustic version of their single “Pieces.” This track is one of my favorites, and they did a great job with a stripped-down version of it. To give it a listen you only have to send out a tweet, which you can …

It’s the holiday season once again. Everyone is getting into the spirit this year, including the folks in the music industry. We started seeing Christmas sweaters from bands as early as October. Labels are also stepping up their game, and are releasing holiday albums with their artists covering various holiday classics.

The latest label to join in the fun is Spartan Records. A handful of their artists took some time to record some familiar Christmas songs for Homesick: A Spartan Records Christmas Album. There are covers by artists like Our Lives, Sullivan, Young Fox and more. …

Over The Ocean Premieres Song; Launches Vinyl Pre-Order

This morning, while I was snatching up my copy of Mae’s Destination: Beautiful on vinyl at the Spartan Records web-store, I happened upon a band called Over The Ocean who had recently put out a pre-order for a record of their own.

The album is called Be Given To The Soil and is being pressed on an absolutely beautiful ‘Ultra Clear vinyl with Dark Green Haze’ variant in a double LP packaging (wipes away drool). Oh, and the music is good too. Really good.

A song from the album called “Riverbed” was posted on the Spartan Records website and is …
