John Nolan Releases Music Video For “Here Comes The Wolf” from ‘Bridge And Tunnel’

A couple weeks back, John Nolan, guitarist of Taking Back Sunday, released his new song that he contributed to the soundtrack for the 2014 independent film Bridge and Tunnel, titled “Here Comes The Wolf”.

Today, the official music video for the song premiered on AltPress. The video shows Nolan sporting clown makeup while performing with a backing band, filmed at Long Island’s own Amityville Music Hall. The band members each have unique masks, playing an upright bass and violin. Other scenes depict Nolan at an amusement park and smearing black makeup all over himself. The song …

BBC Radio 1 Is Rescoring ‘Drive’ With Chvrches, Jon Hopkins, The 1975, SBTRKT, More

Remember how cool the soundtrack for Drive was? It was almost as cool as Driver’s jacket, all ’80s-chic electric goodness, and it was one of the biggest reasons audiences fell in love with the film. That CD is still in my car as I type this. Now, BBC Radio is giving something that was already great another go.

Radio 1 Rescores: Drive – Curated By Zane Lowe will feature music from The 1975, Baauer, BANKS, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon, Chvrches, Eric Prydz, Foals, John Hopkins, Laura Mvula, The Neighborhood, SBTRKT, and ZZC. All but one song is brand new. …

Lorde Streams New Single “Yellow Flicker Beat”

Lorde has delivered on the promise that she would share her contribution to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 this week, and yes, it’s pretty much perfect.

“Yellow Flicker Beat” is a song drenched in romance and vengeance, with Lorde riding larger than life production to dizzying heights and back again. “I’m a princess cut from marble,” she sings in the opening lines, “smoother than a storm / And the scars that mark my body / they’re silver and gold.” It’s not exactly a great departure from the material that made Pure Heroine one of the biggest releases of …

Listen To Four New Songs Off Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross’ ‘Gone Girl’ Soundtrack

The trio of David Fincher, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross is a collaborative group that has had a fair amount of success already this decade – they netted the Oscar for Best Original Score for 2010′s The Social Network. Not much has changed with their third time working together, as all three are primed for even more accolades. Reznor and Ross have soundtracked Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s hit novel Gone Girl, and the pair have released four new songs from that score.

We’ve been treated to “The Way He Looks At Me,” “Sugar Storm,” “Background Noise,” …

Stream Paul McCartney’s “Hope For The Future” From ‘Destiny’

Bungie’s most recent title, Destiny, has been reported to officially be the “most pre-ordered video game IP in history.” That’s an incredibly impressive feat for the Halo series developers. These numbers probably aren’t due to the fact that Sir Paul McCartney scored the game but if you’ve been playing the shooter as much as myself and some other UTG staffers have been for the past couple of days, then you’ve likely noticed the brilliant music that accompanies the equally gorgeous visuals.

“Hope For The Future” serves as the game’s theme song. It’s a sprawling, 4-minute epic with signature McCartney …

We Want The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Soundtrack On Cassette, Do You?

A week has passed since Marvel‘s Guardians Of The Galaxy debuted in theaters, and in that time the film has already grossed well over $100 million. That kind of revenue tells us that a slew of Guardians inspired merchandise is going to be hitting stores in the months ahead, and we’ve collectively settled on the one must-own item would like to see exist.

If you have seen Guardians Of The Galaxy then you will no doubt recall that Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is a mixtape contained on this outdated piece of technology known as a cassette. That format, …

Stream the ‘Wish I Was Here’ Soundtrack

On July 18, Zach Braff’s followup to his directorial debut Garden State hits screens. The film, titled Wish I Was Here, deals with parent struggles, modern day woes, and, of course, a handful of great tunes. In a way, this film has been more hyped up for its soundtrack than for its plot, most of which has to do with why people love Garden State, too. Today the new soundtrack can be streamed in full along with Braff’s commentary.

We’ve already heard Bon Iver’s return-to-studio hit and the collaboration between Cat Power and Coldplay, but now we get …

Check Out The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Soundtrack, An “Awesome Mix”

Now, a super hero movie isn’t generally the film you’d think to dig up the soundtrack for. Guardians of the Galaxy is no ordinary super hero movie, though (we hope). This is the movie that hinged its first trailer wholly and completely on Blue Swede’s “Hooked On A Feeling.” That is still, all these months later, kind of unbelievable.

This soundtrack is also, as Slash Film put it, “totally comprised of pop music. Some of it you know, some of it you might not.” It’s also all classic pop music – Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie, The Runaways. …

Listen to Bon Iver’s First New Song in 3 Years

Considering Justin Vernon certainly has not vanished from the music scene for a single year following Bon Iver‘s 2008 debut (which could technically be said for up to a decade predating that as well), it may come as a surprise that he hasn’t actually put out a track with Bon Iver in three years. After being roped in to contribute to the soundtrack for Zach Braff’s new movie Wish I Was Here alongside Coldplay, Cat Power, and The Shins (duh), he’s sharing their contribution, “Heavenly Father,” over at NPR.

Repeated, muted electronic loops play like ambient horns on “Heavenly …

Award-winning director Michael Collins is working on a new documentary titled Almost Sunrise about the struggle to overcome the effects of war, and Nels Cline of Wilco and Yuka C. Honda of Cibo Matto are hopping on board to do the score.

Almost Sunrise follows Tom and Anthony, two Iraq war veterans, Tom and Anthony, on their 2,700-mile walk across their country to reflect on their traumatic experiences and restore themselves. Their hike is initially driven by a fear of succumbing to the epidemic of veteran suicide, but they soon discover there’s more light pushing them forward than darkness. It …

Charli XCX Releases “Boom Clap” Music Video

Charli XCX has found plenty of success on the pop charts over the last year by collaborating with likes of Ariana Grande and Icona Pop, but for whatever reason US audiences have yet to give her the slew of solo hits we at UTG believe she deserves. That may soon change, however, thanks to the singer’s Fault In Our Stars contribution, “Boom Clap.”

This morning, Charli XCX released the official video for “Boom Clap.” The clip features a compilation of footage from the upcoming film The Fault In Our Stars with a series of performance pieces featuring Charli that are …

Lykke Li must be hungry, because the Swedish songstress has got a lot on her plate. Not only did she just release her new album I Never Learn this month, but she’s contributing songs to numerous films as well. Talk about an appetite.

Her new song, titled “No One Ever Loved,” was written as a part of the forthcoming soundtrack for The Fault In Our StarsIt’s emotional and poignant, just like the novel-turned-film. Her quiet, piano ballad structure is set up to get the tears running when the film comes out on June 6. Check it out after …
