Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O Announces Debut Solo Record, ‘Crush Songs’

Last year the Yeah Yeah Yeahs put out Mosquito, but it seems juggling that and music for Spike Jonze’s Her wasn’t enough to keep fontwoman Karen O busy. She’s just announced she will be dropping her first ever solo album, Crush Songs, September 9 via Cult (Julian Casablancas’ label). That’s the album art to the left.

It may come as a surprise that this is Karen O’s first solo record, but don’t forget that she only contributed one song to Her (the co-written “The Moon Song”) and composed the soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are under the name Karen …

Rome (of Sublime) Announces Solo Album, Streams Lead Single

Rome rose to fame when he became the Sublime frontman longtime fans of the group were willing to tolerate. Now that he has established his voice in the music business, Rome is stepping out on his own with a new solo record titled Get Free, and earlier today we received the album’s first single.

Knowing that Rome spends the majority of his time with Sublime you may think his solo material would sound similar, but aside from a few hints of so-cal punk ethos Rome’s first foray into solo material is a departure from his usual material. “If The …

Landon Tewers

Stream Landon Tewers’ (The Plot In You) Debut Single

It’s not unusual for members of bands to work on solo music while they are still in their band. Tilian Pearson, Tyler Carter, Craig Owens and many others all have at least a few tracks they wrote outside of their respective bands. With that being the case, I found it a little surprising to learn that The Plot In You‘s frontman, Landon Tewers, has started his own solo project.

He launched his Facebook page only a few days ago, and he already has his debut single up. The song is titled “Ma And Pa,” and you can …

Andre 3000 and Big Boi to Release Solo Albums Before Outkast Record

Despite the excitement over former Outkast manager Queen Latifah confirming rumors of Outkast’s new material, it seems fans will have to wait a little while longer before Andre 3000 and Big Boi release a collaborated effort.

Outkast‘s producer Mr. DJ told Revolt that the material being recorded was actually solo albums. However, Mr. DJ believes that a new Outkast record may still be on the horizon. The duo are, in fact, still heading out on a 40-date festival tour this year.

“I get the feeling that the energy and camaraderie from the tour will bring everything full circle. We …

Anthony Green Debuts Supposed ‘Young Legs’ Cover Art On Instagram

Earlier in the day, Anthony Green graced fans with a first look at what many speculate will be the cover art for his upcoming solo album, Young Legs.

The image, which can be viewed after the jump, first appeared on the internet roughly an hour ago via Green’s personal Instagram account, with the message “#Younglegs coming soon.” True to his reputation of being a steadfast family man and father, the album cover features two pairs of literal young legs, which assumingly belong to the vocalist’s two sons, Luke and James.…

André 3000′s Representative Gives “No Official Confirmation” Of Solo Album Release Date

File under: things to be interpreted either way. After this weekend’s rumor that André 3000 would put out his first true solo album at the top of 2014 after a tweet said “Me: hey what’s up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah…and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*,” a representative of his has talked about the matter to Billboard. There, the rep said “Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014. [sic] There is no official confirmation on that report.” Earlier this …

LYRIC VIDEO: Sons Of The Sea (Incubus’ Brandon Boyd With Brendan O’Brien) – “Lady Black”

Earlier this month, we learned of Brandon Boyd’s second solo release being a work with producer Brendan O’Brien, and that he had titled the “band” Sons of the Sea. The EP, Compass, comes out tomorrow, June 25; the Incubus front man released a lyric video on today. It should also be noted that in the Elle article, they call the Goo Goo Dolls and Incubus grunge. We just want to point that out.

Boyd indicated this was the first time he had written with people other than Incubus. He said, “When [producer] Brendan O’Brien said he

DOWNLOAD/STREAM: Brandon Boyd (Incubus) – “Where All The Songs Come From”

Though it hasn’t gotten the largest amount of publicity in the world thus far, Incubus front man Brandon Boyd is releasing his album with producer Brendan O’Brien. He had a solo album in 2010 called The Wild Trapeze, and Rolling Stone reports that this project is called Sons of the Sea. He described the upcoming release as “oddball pop.”

Rolling Stone also posted a download and a stream of a new song, “Where All The Songs Come From.” On the song, Boyd said “This is a piece about the moment when you understand that as good or as

Anthony Green Is Recording A New Album With Will Yip And Good Old War

Anthony Green has a long history of fronting bands (Saosin, The Sound Of Animals Fighting, and Circa Survive, among others) and a short history as a solo artist. He has two albums in his solo career, Beautiful Things and Avalon, and has only done short tours, most notably one with Geoff Rickly. While there are no solo tour dates announced yet, the singer is recording a new album, Young Legs, with producer Will Yip, who is known for his work producing the most recent Circa album and for working with Daylight, Man Overboard, and Title …

Jonny Craig Releases “The Lives We Live” Video

Former Dance Gave Dance frontman Jonny Craig is back in our headlines once again, but this time it actually has something to do with music!

Earlier today, May 14, Jonny Craig released the official music video for his new single “The Lives We Live.” The clip features Craig performing in a room filled with mirrors, with brilliant editing making things pop far more than that basic description is leading you to believe. The song itself is okay, taking a middle of the road approach in terms of speed and overall appeal. It’s clear Craig wants us to hear and see …

Cedric Bixler’s Solo Project Has Turned Into A New Band

Cedric Bixler Zavala, former front man to both At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta, claimed when he first announced TMV broke up that he was working on a solo record. His original statements on Twitter said “Lots of desert ballad space jams, lots of harmonies, lots of lap steel and piano. Lots of AM radio love songs. Short bitter sweet love songs. Be warned I’m not making a rock record. It might lightly rock but not like I’m known for.

Today, maybe that’s starting to change… or maybe he’s just assembled a band to do short bitter …

New Pearl Jam Album Almost Finished, Allegedly Sounds Like …Pearl Jam

In this politically safe day and age, band members often tone down their hyperbole to make sure they aren’t caught foot-in-mouth later. Stone Gossard, guitarist for grunge band Pearl Jam, was quoted this week with a statement that is probably the safest thing one could say about an upcoming album. While trying to promote his new solo album, Moonlander, that is out on June 25, he said[the new Pearl Jam album is] almost done and as far as what it sounds like, it sounds like Pearl Jam. You’re going to hear some rock songs and you’re
