Australia’s heavy music festival monolith, Soundwave, has made a mammoth lineup announcement for 2015 with Faith No More, Soundgarden, Slipknot, Incubus, Marilyn Manson and several other renowned acts leading arguably the festival’s strongest billing yet.

Expanding to a two-day format for the first time in 2015, Soundwave will take place in four cities across two weekends, with every act playing in each city on an alternating schedule that organizers have simply labelled ‘Day One’ and ‘Day Two.’

The first of what festival organizer AJ Maddah promises will be many lineup announcements for the 2015 festival was made on Wednesday …

Slipknot Release “The Negative One” Music Video

Just days after dominating rock headlines with their first single in years, Slipknot have returned to the front page of UTG to release their official video for “The Negative One.”

Earlier today, the first music video connected to Slipknot’s highly-anticipated new album found its way online. The clip features imagery similar to the creepy sequences showcased in the viral promotional videos released by Slipknot in recent weeks. There are beautiful women dressed as Gothic nightmares, a dead goat surrounded by flowers, and multiple shots of people standing around dilapidated properties. The one thing you don’t see, however, is Slipknot. You …

Slipknot Keep It Creepy (And Sort Of Pointless) With Latest Album Teaser

I’m starting to believe that if you have seen one promotional video for the new Slipknot album you have more or less seen them all. It’s (k)not that I am (k)not excited for the new album, it’s just that I saw The Ring pull the same creepy motion effect a decade ago and as far as I can tell none of the nonsensical horror themed visuals we have seen thus far are attempting to tell any kind of story.

TL;DR: I don’t really ‘get it.’

All that said, a fourth teaser for the new album from Slipknot quietly found its …

Slipknot Release Cryptic Video Teaser

Slipknot have never been the kind of band to do things the easy way, and even though rumors have been circling for months that a new album is on the way the metal icons from Iowa are not making it easy for fans to know just what it is they have planned for the future.

On Tuesday, a cryptic video began appearing online through Slipknot’s various social media accounts. The clip featured a compilation of haunting imagery along with the kind of horror movie sound effects that have become commonplace on the band’s albums. There was no text or audible …

Dave Grohl, Corey Taylor & More Join Teenage Time Killer Supergroup

Dave Grohl sure knows how to keep himself busy. Even though he is currently working with his band, Foo Fighters, to release a new album he still managed to take some time away to contribute to a supergroup named Teenage Time Killers. What makes this band a supergroup? Well, including Grohl there’s Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Keith Morris of Black Flag, Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys, Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God and ex-Queens Of The Stone Age‘s bassist Nick Oliveri. They will be joining the masterminds behind the group Reed Mullin and …

Members Of I Declare War, Defiler & Ovid’s Withering Post Cover Of Slipknot Song

Jamie Hanks (I Declare War vocalist) and Chris Fugate (former I Declare War guitarist) teamed up with members of Defiler (Jake Pelzl) and Ovid’s Withering (JJ Polachek) to put together a cover of Slipknot’s “Everything Ends.” The song is taken from the band’s hugely popular sophomore album, Iowa. You can check out the cover by taking a look below the jump.

I Declare War have a different vocal style from Slipknot, and that fact is reflected in this cover. They put more of a “heavy metal” spin on it with all screaming vocals and growls. It’s almost like an …

Joey Jordison: “I Did Not Quit Slipknot”

It would be a massive understatement to say that the metal world was shocked in December when Slipknot announced the departure of founding drummer Joey Jordison. The iconic, masked band revealed little about the reasons behind the split in their initial announcement, stating only that Jordison and the group would be parting ways for “personal reasons.” There has been speculation that Jordison left the band voluntarily, but the drummer posted a short response to these rumors on Facebook last night, making it clear that that was not the case.

“To my fans, friends, and associates…

Slipknot Announce Departure of Drummer Joey Jordinson

It has been a rough 24 hours for longstanding band members leaving their bands. First, founding guitarist Steve Klein was dismissed from New Found Glory after 16 years. And now, Slipknot has announced they will move forward without drummer Joey Jordinson, who had been with the band since their inception in 1995.

The move is a surprising one as the band seemed poised to make some noise in 2014 with guitarist Jim Root opting to sit out the upcoming Stone Sour tour to concentrate on the new Slipknot album. It has been more than five years since the release of …

Stone Sour Announce 2014 Tour Dates

Remember when Slipknot fans were excited after some of the band hinted they’d be back in the studio come January? Well it seems like they’ve hit a little bump in the road since frontman Corey Taylor will be out on tour that month with his other band, Stone Sour.

Stone Sour will kick things off with Pop Evil on January 14 in Florida and wrap up about a month later in Texas. We can’t assume Taylor won’t be working on new material while out on the road though, so there’s still hope that a new Slipknot record will be underway …
