2013 Download Festival Lineup Announced

UK’s Download Festival looks absolutely insane this year. I’m publicly sobbing that I won’t be there in June. The event takes place from June 14 to June 16; we already knew several acts like Queens of the Stone Age were playing, but this lineup is tough to beat.

The acts? Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Bullet For My Valentine, Queens of the Stone Age, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Enter Shikari, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Stone Sour, Parkway drive, Five Finger Death Punch, Jimmy Eat World, and so much more. I just can’t believe Jimmy Eat World, Limp Bizkit, …

EDITORIAL: Slipknot – A Mask Without a Face?

In a recent interview with CityBeat, Slipknot’s founder, percussionist and self-proclaimed visionary, Shawn Crahan, better known simply as “Clown,” sang his (and the band’s) own praises, doing away with a modest approach and giving the impression that “The Knot” may have somewhat of a superiority complex.

“…so many people in the beginning wanted us to fail because we are so great. We have been blowing up since day one because a good idea is a good idea and a good song is a good song and a good band is a good band with a performance.”

While I most …

CONCERT REVIEW: Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival

Do you remember Vader from WWF? Basically, nothing’s more metal than overweight bald white guys in sleeveless Slayer shirts with handlebar mustaches. Also, fuck $12 beers!

I attended the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this past Sunday, July 1 in Mountain View, California where I had the opportunity to see inured metal acts such as Anthrax, Motorhead, and none other than the almighty Slayer! After arriving over two hours later than the festival had began (due to taking our sweet ass time to eat and trying to park in the dust-bowl Hell that Shoreline calls a parking lot), we stood …

Slipknot’s Jim Root Missing Initial Dates Of Mayhem Festival Due To Appendix Bursting

This is incredible. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root will have to miss initial touring dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival due to having surgery to remove his appendix. The crazy part is that Root’s appendix burst over two weeks ago and he’s been dealing with the immense pain that comes with it for this long. What a champ!

Read a statement from the Slipknot camp below and send your well-wishes over to Jim Root through the comments section.

The band stated Root was “seriously sick for the past two weeks and went to the hospital last week where he …

Slipknot’s Clown (M. Shawn Crahan) Does Not Want Fill-In Bassist OnStage

Slipknot‘s Clown (M. Shawn Crahan) does not hold anything back at all when it comes to discussing the duties for fill-in bassist (ex-Slipknot guitarist) Donnie Steele. Crahan tells Spin Mag that dealing with the loss of bass player Paul Gray has had an enormous impact on the band and not having Donnie onstage helps the healing process. Steele is filling in on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.
