UTG PHOTOS: Governors Ball Music Festival

Under The Gun sent photographer, Nick Karp, to Randall’s Island in New York City to photograph the Governors Ball Music Festival.

Much has changed since I attended the first Governors Ball Music Festival, including (thankfully) a new location, more days added to the festival, and there no longer being the gimmick of “No Overlapping Set times.” The market to hold a quality festival in New York City has been in the search since the rise of other domestic festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, and Governors Ball is the answer. 40,000+ people attended the festival in order to watch notable acts …

Watch Sleigh Bells Play “Young Legends” on ‘Letterman’

Are you ready to see Sleigh Bells‘ noise machine Derek Miller angst it up on an acoustic guitar? Yeah, it’s a weird sight, but last night Sleigh Bells took over the Late Show with David Letterman to play “Young Legends” off 2013’s Bitter Rivals.

Sleigh Bells tugged a whole horn section onstage with them to pump up the peppy track with extra pop a la CAKE. If you liked what you hear, go ahead and purchase the album on Mom + Pop. It’s got significantly less crunchy noise than their last album, instead opting for melodic candy-coated guitar parts …

Sleigh Bells Stream New Album ‘Bitter Rivals’

Sleigh Bells‘ Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss return with the duo’s third album in as many years, Bitter Rivals. Slated for release on Tuesday of next week (October 8) on Mom + Pop Music, the album is now streaming in its entirety on Rolling Stone.

Miller and Krauss had promised a more melodic, less dissonant album – after listening, Krauss’ assertion that she’s “doing something Beyoncé or Janet Jackson” isn’t quite as head-scratching as it may first seem – but the sun-soaked confidence and jagged walls of burly metal guitars that made Treats and Reign of Terror

Sleigh Bells Release “You Don’t Get Me Twice”

American noise pop duo Sleigh Bells announced a few weeks ago that their new album, Bitter Rivals, will be out in October. They released the title track off the album, and now Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss are getting straight to the chase with follow-up single, “You Don’t Get Me Twice.”

“You Don’t Get Me Twice” has several lines about how terrifying the American dream is, shouted over hand-clap-stomp combos and a call-and-response between acoustic and heavy electric guitar. Krauss promised the new album would be cleaner, and all signs point to this so far.

Bitter Rivals comes out …

Earlier today the group announced plans to release a new album entitled Bitter Rivals in October, and to mark the occasion they chose to also reveal the album’s lead single (which also happens to be the title track). The larger-than-life sound found on the group’s debut is still present, only it now comes …

Sleigh Bells Third Album Coming In 2013

Brooklyn noise rockers Sleigh Bells are currently touring in support of their second album, Reign of Terror, having opened up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers earlier in the year, too. Talking to the Huffington Post, they confirmed that they will have another studio album released in 2013.

We’ll have three full-length albums in three years. Sonically, it’s a lot more clean…it might sound surprising. (On Reign of Terror) I wanted to make a metal record with a different context – without being self-serious. I wanted to play guitar again. Reign of Terror comes from a horrible
