The Story So Far

The Story So Far Stream “Heavy Gloom”

The pop-punk world is set to explode on May 18 when The Story So Far release their new self-titled record. We’ve already heard a few cuts from the record, and the band has started off Monday morning by releasing another single titled “Heavy Gloom.”

Track two on the new record, “Heavy Gloom” plays closely to the formula we’ve come to expect from the Walnut Creek band. As usual, Parker Cannon’s powerful voice takes center stage over a grooving, distorted pop-punk instrumental. I’m a fan of the prominent bass tones on this song, but all in all, this sounds a lot …

Fucked Up 2014

Fucked Up Release New Song “California Cold,” Announce ‘Zodiac Tour’

Fucked Up might be the last incredibly innovative band making hardcore punk music. The band has released a new, eight-minute track called “California Cold,” which serves as the B-side to the upcoming Year Of The Hare 12″ single.

The first three minutes or so of “California Cold” sound like Fucked Up’s best attempt at making a song in the vein of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead Or Alive,” and it actually works pretty well. Flutes appear around the four-minute mark, and it slowly descends into chaos from there. Considering this is just a B-side, I’m excited to see what kind of …

Dustin Kensrue Premieres First Single off of ‘Carry the Fire’

It should go without saying that Dustin Kensrue‘s been the subject of a lot of internet buzz lately. If not for the teased return of Thrice, then for his upcoming solo album, Carry the Fire, which is due for release through Staple Records and Vagrant Records on April 21.

Billboard exclusively shared “Back to Back” earlier today and it has been continually replayed on our laptops ever since. Featuring some of our favorite aspects of 2007’s Please Come Home and 2010’s The Water & the Blood, the song surely reveals a great deal of maturity.

Stream Repeater’s Newest Single, “Lonely”

Long Beach, California’s Repeater are set to release a brand new, self-titled, full-length record on November 18 via A Diamond Heart Production. Our first taste of the new effort comes in the form of the nearly-four-minute lead single, titled “Lonely.”

With a throbbing, almost hypnotic rhythm and dreamy elements a la The Radio Dept. or Stars, “Lonely” is equally catchy and melancholic in all the right ways. Steve Krolikowski and Tess Shapiro’s dual vocal melodies layer perfectly, complementing the airy nature of the track as it pulsates along in steady fashion. For some, it may make you want to move, …

Cosby Release Video For Newest Single, “Heartracer”

This has nothing to do with ridiculous sweaters or Jell-O.

Virginia-based brothers Chris and Chip Cosby only formed their band two years ago, but Cosby have already released a healthy catalogue of music in that short period of time.

Most recently: their newest single, entitled “Heartracer.” A fun, poppy, synth-driven, indie-rock track in the vein of M83 and Phoenix, “Heartracer” is a great place to start with Cosby if you’ve yet to check out their work. The accompanying visuals explore some of the ’80s-esque vibes found in the song, with an arcade, plenty of neon and even …

Marian Hill’s “Got It” and We Love It

We’re about as bummed as can be that we’re just now discovering Philadelphia’s Marian Hill. The electronic duo have soul and swagger for miles and it’s wholly evident on their fantastic new single, “Got It.”

Following their super smooth Play EP, Samantha Gongol and Jeremy Lloyd are back with a sultry, modern R&B jam that we’ve had on repeat for hours on end. Originally premiering over at Disco Naïveté last week, the track features the big, refreshing beats that were prominent on their last release, serving as a foundation for Gongol’s hypnotic vocal prowess and funky electronic elements that …

BTBAM Frontman Streams New Solo Single, “Mutilated World”

To anyone who’s listened to Between The Buried And Me excessively, it’s no secret that Tommy Rogers is a supremely talented, stud-muffin of a vocalist with an impressive range. In 2011, after several albums with BTBAM showcasing his skills in progressive metal, the frontman released his first solo effort as Thomas Giles (following a debut as Giles in 2004). Further exploring his alternative side, Rogers surprised fans with tracks like “Scared,” a gorgeous, emotional, acoustic cut that further proved what he’s capable of as a vocalist and musician.

Thomas Giles is now set to release his followup with …

It’s been nearly 2 years since PtH had released their latest effort, Scurrilous. With the addition of Lamb of God’s Chris Adler on drums, Volition is sure to be a major hit to prog-leaning metalheads across the globe when it hits shelves on October 29 through Razor & Tie Records.
