UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots & New Politics (4/26/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Twenty One Pilots show featuring New Politics and Five Knives at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH on April 26, 2013.

I arrived to this show expecting nothing but surprises, especially with this being a hometown show for Twenty One Pilots. First in the lineup was Five Knives, however I was unable to make it in time to see their set. Judging from a previous show I saw them at opening for TOP, I’m sure they set the mood for the evening with a flawless performance.

Next up was New Politics

Lauryn Hill has some strange career moves. The singer deliberately signed to Sony and released a single in an effort to make money to pay off debt and stay out of jail. She paid it off, but she is going to jail anyway.

Hill is slated to go to prison on July 8, so what is she doing with her final month? Doing one live show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. Tickets went on sale today; they are available here for a hefty price. According to her Twitter, the reason she’s doing a …

UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (4/6/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Twenty One Pilots show featuring Five Knives & Kaleido at The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI on April 6, 2013.

I had the pleasure to attend the MTV Artists to Watch tour featuring Twenty One Pilots, Five Knives and Kaleido. The show started with Detroit natives, Kaleido, a pop rock group. Christina, singer, brought energy to the crowd and got everyone amped for the show. This band was definitely a ball of energy, which was great in their case. Next up was Five Knives, an electronic pop group with a different …

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas worked Turn Up The Good at Ferris State University and grabbed some photos of GRiZ, Break Science, The Floozies, and TerniduP on April 4, 2013.

I worked Turn Up The Good at Ferris State University on April 4th. TUG was started in 2011 and has been an annual show every spring ever since. I was lucky enough to work on the E-board and photograph the event! TerniduP started off the night; they are the DJ winners from the TUG Contest and they started the night off right! Next up was Kansas natives, The Floozies

Oh, but it does. The time is finally here, friends. The princes of pop punk have returned in the wake of 4 years of rumor and speculation. Fall Out Boy are reunited, PropertyOfZack tells us. Believers never die.

After announcing a hiatus in 2009, the band members went their separate ways to form new projects and explore solo ventures. Controversy followed, rumor was spread on a bi-monthly basis, and ultimately shut down. Each time pushing the pin a little bit deeper into the …

Into It. Over It. 2012

STREAM: Into It. Over It. Live Performance

AltarTV recently interviewed and filmed a full band Into It. Over It. show in Cleveland, and it’s a really great performance. The show comes from Into It. Over It.’s first headlining tour with a full band, however you never would be able to tell because the band puts on such a wonderful set. While this isn’t the entirety of the set, twelve minutes should do a great job in letting you feel like you were there, at least to an extent.

You can check out the stream after the break. It’s great.

Passion Pit

UTG PHOTOS: Passion Pit (11/2/12)

Under the Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Passion Pit, Youngblood Hawke, & Hollerado show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on November 2, 2012.

I arrived to this sold out show expecting to hear new music, new bands, and a great live performance; I received all that and more! The first band was Hollerado, which I’ve never heard of, nor their music, but I really enjoyed it. It’s hard to pin point a similar band, but I would compare them to Vampire Weekend. If you are looking for a new artist to get into, look into Hollerado! …
