Banks Drowning Music Video

Watch Banks’ Dark “Drowning” Music Video

Two weeks ago, Banks shared a new track titled “Drowning” off her upcoming album, GODDESS, out September 9. Now, just a short while later, she’s shared the music video for that same track, and it’s as dark as the song hints.

The industrial back beats push against the intimate vocals in the song, and in the video it pushes her performance even farther, too. Directed by i-D and Mike Piscitelli, the video shows the LA singer-songwriter trapped in a mirrored room with flashing lights, numerous outfits, and her own sultry voice. The only thing that could enhance this …

It’s been five years since we last had an album from Boston’s pop punk mixtape legends American Hi-Fi, but now they’re back for real. American Hi-Fi will be releasing Blood & Lemonade on September 16 via Rude Records.

The band broke the news to fans at a sold-out show two nights ago. Singer Stacy Jones added the following:

We can’t wait for people to hear Blood & Lemonade! It’s a return to a big guitar sound that is most reminiscent of our first album. I am so proud of the songs on this record. It looks like we have

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2′ Piles Above The Competition

After last week’s dip, this weekend saw a slight uptake in total studio revenue. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs dethroned Prisoners with total studio estimates nearing 35 million in ticket sales. The animated film is the first to come since Dreamworks’ Planes flew into theaters back in early August, and is performing better than the edgier films which debuted this weekend. Joesph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut in Don Jon is currently running neck and neck against Baggage Claim, with estimated gross profits for both films coming out around nine million. Ron Howard’s motorsport themed action film Rush fared well …

Prisoners Still

‘Prisoners’ Kidnaps The Box Office’s Number One Spot

Prisoners emerged as the highest grossing film this past weekend, with over 20 million dollars made in gross profits. Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest drama made over seven million on its opening day, leading into the success that followed. Insidious: Chapter 2 fell behind after doing so well this past weekend, with its sales coming out to be half of what they were. Battle Of The Year made a lackluster performance in its debut weekend, with a measly five million made. To put this in perspective, the last dance flick to pull in numbers south of ten million …

Insidious

‘Insidious: Chapter 2′ Dominates Box Office Through Friday The 13th Weekend

The competition didn’t even come close to Insidious: Chapter 2 this past weekend. Over the course of three days, the James Wan produced blockbuster horror flick has raked in over 40 million off of domestic earnings alone, making it three times more successful than the original, which had a 13 million dollar reception on its opening weekend in 2011. Far behind it came The Family, which pulled in a modest 14 million. On the other hand, Riddick, last weekend’s top film, took a 63% dip from its previous earnings by only earning 7 million this week.
