REVIEW: T-Pain – rEVOLVEr
Artist: T-Pain
Album: rEVOLVEr
Genre: R’n’b, hip-hop
Label: Nappy Boy, Konvict Muzik, RCA
This was a fun album to review. Not because it’s particularly good, but just for how often it makes such a spectacular tool of itself. You can’t but laugh and applaud its blatant and wilful badness. I don’t know if this was intentional or not, or if it’s just a symptom of me not listening to this type of music very often, but I almost feel refreshed after listening to it. I wish I had enough space to do an in-depth review of each track.
REVIEW: Crown The Empire – Limitless
Artist: Crown The Empire
Album: Limitless
Genre: Rise Records-core
It’s getting to be that time of year when the minds of Adderall-riddled college kids tend to wander very easily, gravitating towards absolutely anything that can become a distraction from looming final exams. My mind happens to be very good at doing such a thing, but then again, I have a lot of very interesting toys to distract myself with. My weapon of choice lately has been messing around with Ableton, and playing around with my synth program, Massive. It’s really great fun, and there are so many tiny little parameters …

MOVIE REVIEW: The Artist
Film: The Artist
Director: Michel Hazanavicius
Starring: Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo
In a year filled with stunning cinematic achievements, the one film you truly need to see is faithfully rooted in Hollywood’s glorious past. The Artist, a new silent film directed by Michel Hazanavicius, was made with such profound respect and devotion to rise of cinema that most will not be able to differentiate it from the reels that held Alan Crosland’s The Jazz Singer. It is not for everyone, but the true devotees to the silver screen need look no further for this season’s best pick.
