If you consider that a surreal team up, consider what John’s schedule looked like that day. The pianist laid down some keys with Queens of the Stone Age immediately after recording vocals for a duet with Engelbert Humperdinck. This dude. He and Elton go way back. Ask your grandparents.

Some bands just know how to keep the spotlight. Between Trent Reznor and Nick Oliveri’s appearances and Dave Grohl‘s drumming on the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age record, we were already psyched for it. Add to that a false report on its release date and our anticipation couldn’t be higher. Or could it? You can add one more name to the list of singers with a guest vocal spot on the upcoming QotSA: Jake Shears, lead vocalist for the Scissor Sisters.
Jake posted pictures of him with the band today on his Twitter account, and also said …
Of all the Top40 groups to grace UTG over the last five years, few have received the outpouring of love that our staff and readers have shown the Scissor Sisters. From the days they didn’t feel like dancing, to the nights only horses could find us, this New York based glam act redefined the way we think about pop music and we’re forever grateful that. Unfortunately, it appears the time has come to say goodbye (for now).
While performing in London last night, front woman Ana Matronic set social networks on fire when she uttered the following lines:
“This will …
Artist: Scissor Sisters
Album: Magic Hour
Genre: Alternative rock, glam rock, nu-disco
Personally, Scissor Sisters will always be synonymous with my first year in college. “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin” was a radio staple back then (it bothers me that six years have disappeared so quickly) and regularly tore up the nightclubs that played host to our new student bonding sessions. Yet, early success on this side of the Atlantic notwithstanding, they have been eerily quiet for a time and this new album seems to have arrived without the requisite fanfare. For all that they mightn’t always have …
Scissor Sisters have returned to Under The Gun with their fantastic music video for the song “Baby Come Home” and it has us laughing the entire time. Filled with funny costumes, light-hearted visuals, and more bright colors to shake a stick at, this video definitely turns our perception of a goofy music video upside down.
This song is off of Scissor Sisters’ new release, Magic Hour, through Polydor Ltd.
If you have not discovered this incredible album yet be sure to pick up your own copy right here on iTunes and tell your friends! You can bet this album …
Anyone who loves the music of Scissor Sisters is surely the type who likes music that is, for lack of a better term, a bit “freaky.” If that is the case for you, then the latest song to surface off the group’s forthcoming album Magic Hour is sure to please.
What is a kiki? Well Ana Matronic explains it:
“a party for calming all your nerves.”
But our friends at Idolator pointed out:
“It’s apparently also a slang term for a woman’s nether-regions in the Philippines, and yet others we’ve talked to say it’s a nickname for cocaine.
So take …
NYC’s own Scissor Sisters have asked Brodinski to remix their single “Only The Horses” and make it his own.
The remix is dark and provides us with a different outlook than the original version, but it still grabs our attention.
Scissor Sister’s upcoming album will be feature collaborations including Azealia Banks, Calvin Harris, Stuart Price, Pharrell Williams, Diplo and Boys Noize. Please head here to check out the album details for Magic Hour, music video for “Only The Horses,” and let UTG know if you plan on picking up this release on May 28 through Polydor Records!
Scissor Sisters are preparing to release their highly-anticipated new album and have dropped the visuals for “Only The Horses,” that can be seen right here!
Not only is this song bursting with flavor and a great vibe, but the video is brilliantly made. We definitely see a bunch of club remixes to SS’s song in the months to come. This video was directed by Lorenzo Fonda and produced by Scissor Sisters and Calvin Harris. Look out for the group’s forthcoming album, Magic Hour, to be released on May 28 through Polydor Records.
Please be sure to pre-order your copy …
A day after premiering their new single, Scissor Sisters return to headlines across the globe with the release of official video for “Shady Love.”
In typical Scissor Sisters fashion, the video for “Shady Love” manages to make a dirty song feel much cleaner than it actual is with amusing visuals and a storyline guaranteed to make you laugh. You can view the official clip after the jump.
Some fans have complained “Shady Love” is too much of a departure for Scissor Sisters, but our staff disagree. What are your thoughts? Comment below and let us know!
Glam-pop act Scissor Sisters have released the lead single for their 2012 album and UTG has the stream you simply must hear.
Taking their typical insanity to all new heights, “Shady Love” is unlike any Scissor Sisters song you have heard before. The beat is well within the realm of techno, but a rapping Jake Shears and more than a handful of experimental loops will keep you on your toes throughout. You can stream the song after the jump.
Scissor Sisters are preparing to have a gigantic 2012 and UTG could not be more excited for their latest material. Stay …
The always-boisterous Scissor Sisters have revealed some information fans around the world have been pining for all year long.
Announced on Christmas day via Facebook note, Scissor Sisters revealed they will be releasing a brand new album sometime in 2012. To help whet the appetites of fans, the group will be releasing the lead sing, “Shady Love,” through BBC radio on January 2. Look below to read the group’s full message to fans:
It has been in limbo for years, but word on the street is an official Fraggle Rock movie is on the way sooner than later. What’s even more surprising, Jake Shears and Babydaddy of Scissor Sisters have been tapped to write the music!
This news came in a rather backwards fashion earlier this week, as Music Week broke news about the Scissor Sisters writing before any official word had been given on the film! Hoodwinked writer Cory Edwards had been attached to the project in the past with Weinstein Company, but left in hopes of doing an edgier project almost …
