RUMOR: Harrison Ford Confirmed for Star Wars: Episode VII

Well now that we have a director confirmed, it’s time for an onslaught of casting rumors. Latino Review (who all things considered is a relatively trustworthy source) has announced that director J.J. Abrams has confirmed Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Han Solo in the next installment in the Stars Wars series.

Now, I know most Star Wars fans are hyperventilating, and I just caught my breath too. But until I hear it directly from Disney themselves, I’m going to take every rumor with a huge grain of salt. However this casting rumor isn’t totally unreasonable. Harrison Ford has …

Movie Sequel Round-Up: Prometheus, X-Men: First Class, And Thor 2

It may seem that Hollywood is swiftly becoming naught but a hotbed of sequels and reboots, but three high-profile projects in the news this morning at least have real potential. First up, Ridley Scott has been hinting at a sequel to his recent sci-fi opus Prometheus, with sources pointing to a 2014 or 2015 release date. It seems Scott and studio Fox have been discussing the mooted follow-up with potential writers and aim to continue the story of Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender’s David (or rather, David’s disembodied head) and their journey across the skies.

Blink-182 are NOT Breaking Up

Over the past couple of days rumors have been swirling that pop-punk icons, Blink-182, are heading once again towards splits-ville. Those rumors have been further stoked by the numerous injuries and illnesses faced by drummer Travis Barker and guitarist/singer Tom DeLonge over the past couple of months that have forced the pop-punk trio to cancel various shows.

Well, bassist/singer Mark Hoppus has shot down Blink-breakup rumors in a tweet this morning. Check out Hoppus’ tweet after the jump.

Oh No, “Grown Ups 2″ May Be On The Way

As if Adam Sandler and the rest of Happy Madison haven’t learned from their mistakes in 2011 (AKA Bucky Larson and Jack & Jill), a new Hollywood headline has UTG starting to think they have actually gone insane.

Variety is reporting that Sandler’s production company (Happy Madison) is in talks with Grown Ups writer (and frequent Sandler-collaborator) Fred Wolf to pen a follow-up to 2010′s $271 million dollar box office smash. Those familiar with Sandler’s work know he has never done a sequel, and he currently has no contractual obligations to appear in GU2, but given his company’s …

Drake Addresses “Leaving Young Money” Rumors

Drake has found more success from his latest releases than even we expected and as a result, the rumor mill is alive and well.

Earlier this week, rumors began circulating online that Drizzy Drake was considering leaving his family at Young Money in search of a bigger, better deal. This is (of course) untrue, but rumors have persisted to the point that Aubrey felt the need to speak out.

While on stage in Toronto, Drake proclaimed “If you ever wake up and think Young Money ain’t my team, you out your mind. My brother Lil Wayne is all the way …

Black Sabbath Plan “Special Announcement” For Next Friday, Rumor Mill Goes Crazy

Noisecreep just broke that Black Sabbath will be making a “big announcement” next Friday, November 11.

According to an invitation the blog received to the event, all original members – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – will be in attendance and Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins will host. No further details have been revealed.

Get Ready, A “Pinocchio” Prequel Is On The Way

I don’t know how many people saw the box office report this weekend, but Real Steel is once again number one and Fox’s prequel/remake of The Thing failed miserably. You’d think studios would start to realize the hype of remakes, prequels, and sequels is starting to die down, but as you’ll soon learn that seems to be the exact opposite of what is happening in Hollywood these days.

Shawn Levy, AKA the guy who directed battling robots in Real Steel, has been tapped by Fox to direct a prequel to the animated classic Pinnochio. Written by Michael Vukadinovich …

REASONABLE REMAKES: Frankenstein

Under The Gun is continuing our efforts to bring you more original and engaging content with REASONABLE REMAKES. Written by film-nerd Justin Proper, this column aims to highlight Hollywood’s forgotten gems and spark debate.

You see, we’ve grown tired of Hollywood rehashing ideas we’re old enough to remember. Why remake something the majority of the planet still remembers and loves deeply when there are tons of films that deserve a chance to be as great as modern technology and skill can make them? If you agree, this column is for you.

Horror movies these days are about shock value …

FEATURE: Who Will Direct The Steve Jobs Movie? Who Will Star?

The tragic news of Steve Jobs’ death arrived late last night. This is a true loss to not just the computing world, but the modern technological world as a whole. I can’t look around my house without seeing something Steve Jobs was at least partly responsible for. My phone, my computer, my music player, pretty much every aspect of media and entertainment in my life was somehow touched by the man. There is no doubt in my mind that a Steve Jobs biopic is coming soon, and that’s where I come in.

Get Up Kids Clarify Split Rumors

The Get Up Kids are not breaking up. They are, however, not returning to the UK anytime soon. This didn’t seem like complicated news when it broke yesterday, but a few confused blogs have caused a mess and the band has reached out to calm frustrated fans.

A message released from the band this morning reads “OK. To clarify the earlier post – we are not ‘disbanding’, like Punktastic seemed to say. That would imply the band is splitting up, again. Nope. Not the case. Not even a hiatus. Just means that we are taking some time to work on …
