MUSIC VIDEO: Killswitch Engage – “In Due Time”

Everyone knows that under the flinty, brooding exterior of a metalhead lies a friendly, nougaty center. Case in point, the music video for “In Due Time”. The visuals for the new single from from rough-hewn brutes Killswitch Engage sees the band just being their beardy selves.

Does that mean a lot of lavish shots of Killswitch riffing, screaming, and generally thrashing about? You bet your ass it does. But the clip also mixes in footage from the “filming of” portion of the shoot, showcasing the band and friends having a grand old time together. Like, did you know that the …

The Devil Wears Prada Sign With Roadrunner; Plan New Album For Fall 2013

Ohio metalcore deities The Devil Wears Prada have moved up in the world once more and joined the legendary Roadrunner Records’ roster. The band will make their label debut with an as-yet-untitled new LP, executive produced by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage with producer/engineer Matt Goldman, expected to arrive fall 2013.

Speaking on the deal, frontman Mike Hranica says, “We’ve put so much time into the new songs already, and we’re really happy where things are sitting. I think with Roadrunner in the picture, it’s only more encouraging as far as compiling a record that we can be proud of …

LYRIC VIDEO: Killswitch Engage – “In Due Time”

Metalcore elder statesmen Killswitch Engage have been nothing if not consistent. At least in terms of quality and timeliness of output. Having put out five albums between 2000′s self-titled and 2009′s… self-titled, the group is now gearing up for their first release of the decade, Disarm the Descent.

However, the group hasn’t been as consistent in terms of lineup stability. But the most recent reshuffling had fans who had been with the band since the beginning licking their chops in anticipation. I’m talking, of course, of Killswitch Engage’s reunion with original vocalist Jesse Leach.

REVIEW: Heartist – Nothing You Didn’t Deserve

Artist: Heartist
Album: Nothing You Didn’t Deserve EP
Genre: Post Hardcore

To be honest, I only recently heard of Heartist. They were recommended to me by a friend so I decided to check them out. I can see that these guys have some good potential. They certainly have not gotten there yet, but they have all the elements to be memorable. I had the chance to sit down and listen to their debut EP Nothing You Didn’t Deserve.

In the first song, “Disconnected”, there are definitely some moments when his voice reminds me a little …

The Amity Affliction Chasing Ghosts

REVIEW: The Amity Affliction – Chasing Ghosts

Artist: The Amity Affliction
Album: Chasing Ghosts
Genre: Post Hardcore
Label: Roadrunner Records

Simply put, the first few minutes of listening to Sleeping Sickness by The Amity Affliction album feels a lot like stumbling into a family reunion while afflicted with amnesia. At first you feel like everything is new to you, but in due time, things become increasingly familiar. You realize that the section of a song that you heard and thought was the sickest thing in the world was practically identical to the same part that you’ve heard repeatedly over the years.

Not to say that it’s essentially …
