Rest In Peace: FEARnet (2006-2014)

It’s a sad day for horror fans.

FEARnet has been purchased by Comcast from its partners – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment – with the intention of folding the horror/thriller/sci-fi network into Comcast’s NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment division through its Chiller and SyFy networks.

“NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment has acquired all remaining interests in FEARnet from its productive venture with Lionsgate and Sony,” the company said in a statement to Deadline through a spokesman. “FEARnet, along with its popular content, will be integrated into NBCU Cable Entertainment. This process will take place over a yet to be determined period of time.”…


GWAR Members Post Video Statement

The remaining members of GWAR have officially broken their silence regarding the recent passing of Dave Brockie today through a two-minute video statement. While still conveying some humor, the band talked about their beloved frontman and a public memorial service to take place on August 15 which will precede the oncoming 5th annual GWAR-B-Q on the following day.

Chicago Rapper Big Glo, AKA Blood Money, Shot To Death In Englewood

Chicago is not messing around right now. The songs and so-called anthems you hear coming out of the trap movement are no joke. Kids are dying over this stuff, and it’s getting worse by the week. Rest In Peace: Mickey Rooney (1920-2014)

Hollywood icon Mickey Rooney has passed away at the age of 93.

According to Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith, Rooney was with his family when he died at his North Hollywood home. No cause of death has been revealed at the time, but reports claim the actor had been sick for some time. There was nothing suspicious at his home and police do not feel an investigation is warranted.

Rooney was an actor by the time he could walk, appearing alongside his parents in their vaudeville act at only eighteen months of age. His passion for entertaining only continued …

Gwar Announce Public Memorial For Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus)

GWAR have announced plans to host a public memorial for recently departed vocalist Dave Brockie on August 15. 2014.

Announced yesterday afternoon, the one and only official public memorial for Dave Brockie will take place August 15 at Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, VA. The memorial will coincide with the GWAR-B-Q, which will go on as planned on August 16, also at Hasad’s Lake. Tickets for the GWAR-B-Q have yet to go on sale.

Popular Leak Site TheLastDisaster Shuts Down For Good

Another long-running hub for music piracy is no more.

Over the last twenty-four hours, the popular leak site known as The Last Disaster has been forced to shutter its piracy blog after seven years of sharing music with the world. Updates posted by the owners of the site to Facebook indicate that those in control were locked out of their datacenter, which essentially brought their entire operation to a halt.

Live It Out Announce Final Show

This sucks.

Michigan pop punk outfit Live It Out have announced plans to play their final show later this year.

Taking the stage for one final time on April 12 in Detroit, Live It Out will play their last show with support from Undesirable People, Last Action Hero, and Cities & Years. Tickets are not on sale at this time, but you can view a poster for the event below.

Silver screen legend Harold Ramis has passed away at the age of 69.

According to a message to the press from his family, Ramis passed away early this morning at his Chicago home from complications stemming from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease involving the swelling of blood vessels. He was surrounded by family when he died.

Best known for roles in such blockbuster hits as Animal House and Ghostbusters, Ramis lead a long and successful life in Hollywood. He also wrote many successful sequels, including Ghostbusters 2 and Caddyshack 2. His last on-screen appearance was in 2009′s …

Bob Casale, the guitarist and founding member of Devo has passed away due to complications from heart failure at the age of 61.

A true staple of the band, Casale played on every Devo record beginning with their 1978 debut, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! through 2010′s Something For Everybody. Casale also toured extensively with the group for most of his life.

Shirley Temple, former child star, died in her California home Monday night at the age of 85. Sources say her passing came about due to natural causes and that she was surrounded by loved ones and caretakers at the time of her death.

“We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and adored wife of fifty-five years,” said the family in a statement.
