The Game Releases Song For Fallen Nephew

It has been a slow weekend thus far, and for The Game it’s a sad one as well. His nephew, Frogg, passed away recently and now the emcee has released a song in his honor. UTG received the mp3 this morning and we’re happy to provide it for you now.

“Till We Meet Again (RIP Frogg)” starts with the usual abrasive approach of The Game’s music, but quickly relaxes into a more introspective beat. Game delivers lines on topics of life, death, and the afterlife with laser precision, hitting more heartwrenching emotional moments than any of his other material as …

His death was announced via a long post on The Door’s official Facebook. You can read their words and view one of the most notable Doors performances of all time below. If you have …

FLASHBACK: 7 Unforgettable AOL Undercover Sessions

Earlier today news broke over Twitter that Spinner and all of AOL Music would be shutting down. First impressions were that this would be a gradual change, but tweets sent from the Spinner account (which were later deleted) said that the plug was being pulled today. Spinner Editor Dan Reilly even tweeted, “Well, we all just got laid off. AOL Music is finished.”

We at UTG were as shocked as everyone else to learn of AOL Music’s downfall, and we quickly began reminiscing on their contributions to our scene over the years. Though they covered a wide variety of …

Deftones Release Statement on Chi’s Passing

It’s been nearly four years since Chi Cheng of Deftones suffered injuries from a car accident that had eventually resulted in his untimely passing on Saturday.

Words can’t describe the impact that Cheng had on the lives of hundreds, probably thousands of people. Follow the jump to read entire post that had been taken from the band’s Facebook page.

There are so many things I can say, and yet at this moment, none of it matters or compares

Attack! Attack! (UK) Announce Break Up Plans

When I woke to a text alert telling me Attack Attack had broken up, I legitimately lept from bed in my Boston home and scrambled to my laptop. Ohio’s Attack Attack! have been one of our most covered bands, and to hear that they quietly announced their break up in the dead of the night seemed strange. Then I logged on to realize the company behind the aforementioned text alert didn’t understand how important the exclamation point is in the band’s name and that, my friends, is how I learned the UK based Attack! Attack! were going to be parting …

AMP Magazine Closes Their Doors, More Sad News from the Print Industry

It appears that another magazine has fallen under the pressure of the rise digital journalism. AMP is shutting down, left in thousands of dollars in debt.

The announcement came this evening, by way of Facebook note. Informing their subscribers of the sad news. This announcement follows many others from the print world. SPIN shut down their print department to focus on web-related content. We expect more to follow in the trend, else opt for additional forms of revenue, such as e-printing or website pay-walls.

Founder and Editor, Brett Mathews explains the need to shut down the mag:

REST IN PEACE: Stickam

This was unexpected.

After seven years of webcam chat services, Stickam has announced it will be shutting down permanently at 11:59PST tonight.

We have not covered a lot of technology on UTG, but the closure of Stickam is one move that is sure to shake things up within our community. Many artists, including UTG friend MOD SUN, have used Stickam for years as a way of further connecting with fans and friends around the globe, and its impending absence will leave a void (that services like UStream will quickly move to fill).

The team behind Stickam released a message to …
