Skye McCole Bartusiak, who is probably best known for her roles in The Patriot and Riding In Cars With Boys, has passed away. She was 21.

Bartusiak’s parents broke the news of their daughter’s death to members of the press earlier today. “We lost our girl,” Helen McCole Bartusiak told CNN. “She was a kind and really beautiful girl.” A cause of death has not been determined at this point, but Bartusiak’s mother has commented that she believes her daughter’s long-running bout with epileptic seizures may be responsible. Just days after the world said goodbye to Johnny Winter and Elaine Stritch, news is breaking that iconic screen actor James Garner has also passed away. He was 86.

Garner, who rose to fame with his role on the 1950s television series Maverick, was found dead of natural causes at his home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles Saturday evening, Los Angeles police officer Alonzo Iniquez said early Sunday. News is breaking this morning that iconic blues musician Johnny Winter, whose career spans half a century, has died. He was 70.

Winter’s publicist confirmed the news to members of the press this morning, adding that Winter died in a hotel room in Zurich earlier this week. A statement released along with the announcement said his wife, family and bandmates were all saddened by the loss of one of the world’s finest guitarists.

Reports have been coming in for the last hour that legendary soul singer Bobby Womack has passed away at the age of 70. The news was confirmed by his label, XL Recordings.

No cause of death has been found at this time. That said, in recent years Womack has battled colon cancer and was rumored to have begun developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Documentary filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul was found dead today in Stockholm, Sweden at the far too young age of 36. Police spokesperson Pia Glenvik has reportedly confirmed the death, but specifics are currently being withheld from the public.

Bendjelloul’s most recognizable work to date was his Oscar award-winning rockumentary, Searching for Sugar Man, which debuted in the summer of 2012.
