Henry Rollins Will Not Be Reuniting With Black Flag This Summer

Black Flag will be reuniting this summer and Henry Rollins will not be a part of it.

Rollins recently wrote an article stating why he’ll be stepping away from music, resulting in his lack of participation in the reunion. Check out the excerpt below and read the entire article here.

In the summer months, you can count on bands that have been gone for years who will reassemble and go onto stages all over the world playing “vintage music.” Perhaps they are on a Proustian mission to recapture that which has been lost. I read the interviews where the

RX Bandits Holding ‘Resignation’ Ten Year Anniversary Tour

RX Bandits foreshadowed an announcement today, and many within the industry suspected it would be a tour. They had already been announced to play Skate & Surf on the opposite side of the country than that which they are from, so a tour seemed to make sense. The announcement today was indeed a tour for the ten year anniversary of The Resignation, their final release under Drive Thru Records.

Most of the dates take place on the west coast, but Boston, Philadelphia, New York City and a few other large cities do get their due. The opener appears to …

Black Flag Call Out Flag, Offer Free Download

Well, isn’t punk rock exciting when you’re older and jaded instead of young and angry? Black Flag, one of the most well known pioneers of the 80s hardcore punk movement, recently reunited as two different projects. One is the official reunion, still known as Black Flag, which features former members in vocalist Ron Reyes and band leader and guitarist Greg Ginn. The bassist for the recordings is “Dale Nixon,” which is actually a pseudonym for Greg Ginn; the bassist live is reported to be Dave Klein from Screeching Weasel. It should be noted that the lineup was originally …

Neutral Milk Hotel Tour To Be Full International Tour Through 2014

Well, maybe we won’t have to travel south. The announcement earlier this week of a Neutral Milk Hotel reunion had a small indication there would be more dates, saying there was “more to come,” but it was hard to say for sure, as the announcement also included the quote “…and of water course womb rume is a wandering the welkin woman…” Point being, it’s hard to decipher old Elephant 6 messages.

Pollstar, the standard for music industry touring data, got a quote out of NMH’s long time booking agent Jim Romeo of Ground Control Touring, who said …

HOLY SH!T: Neutral Milk Hotel Reunite For Brief Tour

Wow. I want to say wow times a thousand. A few short years ago, I never would’ve expected Jeff Mangum to come out of his hiding away, forever living on as some indie rock myth. Yet, it’s 2013, and I’ve got to see him perform as a solo artist twice. Each time it left me holding out hope that I would one day get to see Neutral Milk Hotel perform in full.

Well, 2013 is a year to be lived. Neutral Milk Hotel will be reuniting for five shows. That’s a pretty lame tour, overall. But I don’t care. You …

HOLY SH!T: Modern Life is War is Back, New Album in the Works

This is not an April Fool’s joke. Today we are happy to share that Iowa-based hardcore band Modern Life is War has come out of their basement to announce that they are back. The band has been hard at work, having written a new album in September of last year, which is slated to be recorded this coming May. Modern Life is War, as they say it, is an “active band again.”

While there are no plans for them to do any extensive touring, they have announced that they will be playing their first show back at This is Hardcore

10 Years Later: Cody Votolato Discusses ‘Burn, Piano Island, Burn’

Nostalgia has pretty much overtaken the internet in 2013. From comeback albums, to films, television, and even Tamagotchi, people seem more obsessed than ever with the (relatively) recent past. We thought for a long time about launching a column that celebrated this mutual adoration for days gone by, but in the end decided such a feature would take away from how important certain events and works of art truly are to our community. So instead of bringing to light every notable item to hits the decade mark this year, we’ve decided to highlight only a select few, …

HOLY SH!T: Nine Inch Nails Returning And Touring This Year

Well, this caught me by surprise.

Trent Reznor released a note on hipster music site Pitchfork saying the following:

NOTE FROM TRENT:

Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.

I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another,

The Postal Service Announce North America Summer Tour

After some fans were left heartbroken at frontman Ben Gibbard‘s announcement of the reality that there will be no new album coming from The Postal Service anytime soon, the ones in key markets have a silver-lining.

The band have recently announced more tour dates to complement their previously announced world tour and Coachella appearances, and this time, it’s much more than simply select chunks of the West Coast and New England.

Follow the jump for a listing of the band’s tour itinerary that was picked up by our friends over at Property of Zack.

Fall Out Boy Comment On Spring Tour; Promise To “Be A Band For A Long Time”

Fall Out Boy’s return to the top of the alternative music world has essentially dominated our newsfeed over the last two weeks. Many of you have been happy about this, but others have expressed a growing distaste in the frequency of these posts. We’ll be the first to admit that the initial days following their confirmation of a comeback were a bit overboard, and now hope to return to our regular posting routine moving forward. That said, here’s another FOB story for all you overcast kids.

To the surprise of no one, tickets for Fall Out Boy’s spring tour quickly …
