Is Mineral Up To Something?

This is the news post I’ve wanted to write more than anything else this year. If a new website and social media accounts are to be believed, it looks like things are happening with long-defunct emo act Mineral.

The Twitter and Facebook pages have yet to be updated, but the Instagram page features a few shots of instruments and amps that might look familiar to anyone who has spent a lazy afternoon watching Mineral sets on YouTube. While it’s no confirmation, we can only hope that this means a reunion is in the works. It would certainly be the perfect …

American Football Reunite, Plan October Tour

The indie world has been buzzing for a minute now about the upcoming reissue of American Football’s sole LP (out May 20 via Polyvinyl), but now the lingering fans on one of the emo movement’s most beloved bands have an even better reason to celebrate: The band is getting back together.

This morning, American Football confirmed they are officially reuniting by revealing plans to begin performing live again in October 2014. Dates for the run have yet to be made public, but BrooklynVegan has confirmed a stop in NYC for October 11. We expect the full tour announcement to be …

MUST LISTEN: Former The Mars Volta Members Reunite To Form Supergroup Antemasque

The on again, off again relationship between guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala is now on again. Setting aside whatever differences surfaced toward the end of At The Drive-In’s 2012 reunion tour and led to the breakup of The Mars Volta in 2013, the pair have now reunited to form a new band called Antemasque. Filling out the band’s lineup is Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and former The Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch, who has also recently resurfaced in the metal supergroup Killer Be Killed.

Their first released song is “4AM,” a fun little rock tune …

Copeland Reunion: Band Announces New Album, Streams Song

Six years have passed since Copeland released their last album, but word broke this morning that new melancholy tales of love and life will be available to fans before the end of the year.

Yes, Copeland are back.

A few years have passed since Copeland took their final bow, but a new message and video from the band this morning explains they are back in the creative process. In fact, they have a new album nearly complete and are already sharing new music with the world. Before we get there, however, let’s take a minute and read what the band …

A Thorn For Every Heart Join Growing List Of ‘Scene’ Bands From Mid-Late 2000s Reuniting This Year

It’s the dawn of a new week, so naturally there is a reunion tidbit making its way around the blogosphere that a small portion of the alternative music audience is ecstatic about while those born closer to the Y2K scare scratch their heads with indifference.

A Thorn For Every Heart originally went their separate ways in 2007, but began the fact they were ‘considering’ a reunion in the fall of 2013. Today they announced their first show back will take place at the Get Busy Living Festival June 7th at the Granada Theatre in Ontario, California. Fifteen bands will be …

No Malice Proclaims “I am not doing another Clipse album”

In the early days of 2014 there was a rumor circling the net that Clipse had finally reunited in the studio and were hard at work on a new album with The Neptunes. Pusha T stepped forward said those claims were false, but he would not say whether or not plans existed at the time for Clipse to one day record again. Today, thanks to Rapzilla, it seems we have our answer.

During a brief appearance at SXSW, No Malice did an interview where he explained that he has no intentions to ever record another album under the Clipse name. …

Gwen Stacy Are Teasing A Reunion

Gwen Stacy may have finally returned from that fishing trip they first teased on their Ferret Records’ debut.

Nearly four years have passed since Gwen Stacy announced plans to go their separate ways, but a recent burst of activity across the group’s various social network accounts has lead many to believe a reunion announcement may be on the horizon.

No messages or videos have been released by Gwen Stacy just yet, but a strange photo was posted across every one of the band’s networks featuring the members at practice. Practice for what, however, remains unknown. You can view the image …

The Latest Wu-Tang Clan Reunion Single Is A Little Underwhelming, But At Least Their Album Is Complete

The Wu-Tang Clan‘s long discussed and extensively delayed reunion album, A Better Tomorrow, has become the rap world’s very own Chinese Democracy in recent years. RZA has explained that a lot of the troubles surrounding the album are due to difficulties getting all nine members of the hip-hop collective back together and on the same page, but anytime a member has gotten behind a microphone or in front of a camera in the past year or so they cannot help hyping the record.

Last night a new single from the album titled “Keep Watch” found its way online, …

Tool’s New Album Is Allegedly Complete; 2014 Release Expected

The number of times rumors about Tool and whether or not they would be releasing a new album any given year has rolled through our inbox is crazy high at this point, but the following story is one we’ve chosen to believe. If we’re eventually proven wrong sometime in the future, let us go ahead and apologize now.

Tool are reportedly “100% done” with their long-awaited new studio album. This, according to an unnamed source Crave Online trusts enough to publish.…

Sunny Day Real Estate, Circa Survive Announce Split Featuring First New SDRE Song In 14 Years

You read that headline correctly. Sunny Day Real Estate will be releasing a split with Circa Survive for Record Store Day, featuring brand new material from both bands. For those of you keeping track at home, this marks the first new Sunny Day Real Estate song since their 2000 record, The Rising Tide. The track, titled “Lipton Witch,” was likely conceived during unresolved recording sessions following the band’s reunion in 2009. Circa Survive is contributing “Bad Heart,” a song recorded after the Violent Waves sessions in 2012.

The split’s artwork was done by Chris Thompson, who contributed artwork …

Reunited Failure Tapped to Open Tool’s March Tour

Say what you will about Tool’s lack of urgency to release a follow-up to 2006′s 10,000 Days, the band continues to string together a small run of tour dates nearly every year and they’ve yet to disappoint when it comes to choosing an opening act.

Over the course of their career, Tool has hand-picked everyone from Meshuggah to The Flaming Lips to Russian Circles to open for them, and their quickly approaching March arena run will be no different with recently reunited alt-rock outfit Failure set to kick off the majority of the dates. The move isn’t necessarily a …

No Oasis Reunion; Band Re-Releasing First Three Studio Albums In 2014

Oasis are one of the few bands who can still cause a digital fuss online whenever they decide to make an announcement. Not so unlike The Smiths, every hint of action from within the Oasis camp is immediately extrapolated by fans and the press to signify signs of a reunion and possible album/tour/etc. The story this week was that Oasis may finally be putting aside their differences and getting back together, but the truth of the matter is far less incredible.

According to a new update on the recently relaunched Oasis website:

To celebrate the twentieth year since the
