STREAM: Texas Is The Reason – “When Rock ‘N’ Roll Was Just A Baby”, Band To Rerelease ‘Do You Know Who You Are?’

Texas Is The Reason are streaming the last song they ever wrote as a band, “When Rock ‘N’ Roll Was Just A Baby”, on RollingStone.com.

“It was kind of like a Brian Eno ’oblique strategies’ thing, where the challenge was to write a pop song that didn’t actually have a chorus. We were right on the verge of finally signing with Capitol after a years-long bidding war at that point, and I think we were having a reactionary moment. It was like, ‘We won’t go quietly!’” guitarist Norman Brannon told Rolling Stone. “But I remember Gary Gersh, who …

Early Reports of Finch’s ‘What It Is To Burn’ Vinyl Release Leak; Finch Release Contradicting Statement Through UTG

Earlier today, vinyl website Vinyl Collective released some unofficial reports on an upcoming vinyl pressing of Finch’s debut full length, What It Is To Burn, that were then also picked up by Absolute Punk. UTG reached out to the band to confirm the reports, and the band gave us this statement:

This information is not completely accurate. We have not spoken with Vinyl Collective but have ideas to work with them. What was posted on their forum is not what we had in mind. What we have in mind is much more exciting than what was said.

‘Lawrence of Arabia’ To Return to Big Screen With New 4K Restoration, Sony Releases Trailer for Event

Well I guess we’re starting to see a new trend forming, and we are not complaining. Sony announced a while ago that the film classic Lawrence of Arabia will be getting a 4K restoration (for those who don’t know what that means, really really hi-res digital restoration). The film is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and to celebrate, it will be released back into theaters on October 4, 2012. We now have a trailer for the release, and it’s going to be a magical experience.

Now, there are two possible ways to look at this, neither of which is necessarily negative …

LucasFilm Dates “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith” 3D Release, World Sighs

Well, this was expected but it doesn’t make me any less sad. LucasFilm announced a while ago that they would be rereleasing their Star Wars movies in 3D again to enhance the movie going experience (for those who aren’t as cynical or frankly ignorant, this means they just want to enhance their wallets). Sadly, Lucasfilm just gave dates to the last two prequels in the series, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and they’ll come out September 20, 2013 and October 11, 2013, respectively.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Star Wars series. A lot. …

The Wonder Years Rerelease Debut Album Get Stoked On It!

No Sleep Records announced today that they will be rereleasing The Wonder Years’ Get Stoked on It! through their digital distributers (their webstore, iTunes, etc) on May 15, 2012. The album has been completely remixed and remastered, so it’ll be interesting to hear what it sounds like now with different mixes. It’s a little odd to see this news  because The Wonder Years are always so blunt about how much they dislike the album (they claim it’s just really bad) to the point where they rarely play any songs off of it live, with the exception of the title track …

“Top Gun 3D” Coming To Theaters

This headline is as bad as it sounds, but now as bad as it could be. For starters, they ARE NOT remaking Top Gun. However, they are converting the original film into 3D and planning a theatrical release sometime within the next year.

Call it a lack of ideas or execs seeing just how much money they can take from the pockets of brainless entertainment junkies, but this “new crazy” of converting old films into 3D and charging us literally double (in some cases triple) what we paid to see it originally needs to stop. There is absolutely …
