REVIEW: Finch – ‘What It Is To Burn X – Live At The Glasshouse’

Artist: Finch
Album: What It Is To Burn X – Live At The Glasshouse
Genre: Rock, Screamo

In the Australian summer of 2002, I was a shaggy-haired, punk rock-obsessed kid embarking on a journey to musical and personal discovery. After years spent as a devout follower of all things Fat Wreck, Kung Fu, Nitro, Drive Thru and Epitaph, I found myself searching for bands that combined all my favourite elements into one sound. As luck would have it, a pen-pal of mine (remember those?) who was a street-teamer for Drive Thru, sent me a copy of an album called What

ALBUM STREAM: The Ramshackle Army – ‘Letters From The Road Less Travelled’

Australian Celtic-Punk troubadours The Ramshackle Army have made their debut full-length Letters From The Road Less Travelled available for download and streaming over at their official Bandcamp page.

The Ramshackle Army broke onto the local scene of Melbourne, Australia in 2010 and quickly set about playing to diverse crowds up and down the East Coast of the land down under, finding themselves equally at home in front of a festival crowd as the dark seedy punk rock shows that they knew and loved. Setting out to create party music, they combined Aussie folklore with personal experience, while drawing inspiration from …

Betty Who Announces ‘Slow Dancing’ EP, Tour Dates

We knew Betty Who was destined for greatness from the first day we heard The Movement EP, and her deal with RCA that followed in fall 2013 only further solidified that belief. Now, that Berklee School of Music student is hitting the ground running in the new year with plans for a new release, single, and tour in the weeks ahead.

Betty Who embarked on her first nationwide tour in January, and to the surprise of pretty much no one the tour was a runaway success. Her upcoming run, dubbed the Heartbreak Dream tour, will put Who on the road …

REVIEW: Throwdown – ‘Intolerance’

Artist: Throwdown
Album: Intolerance
Genre: Hardcore

Throwdown have always been one of the more divisive bands in the hardcore scene, attracting a steady stream of passionate detractors who hate on them with a passion, labelling them ‘derivative,’ ‘unimaginative,’ ‘preachy,’ and ‘dated.’ Fortunately for the band, the passion of their detractors has never been a match for that of their fans, who love them with a passion rivaled by few fan-bases in the world; and with the release of the band’s seventh full-length record, Intolerance, those fans’ faith is about to be handsomely rewarded. Make no mistake about it, Intolerance

Backtrack’s Australian Tour Begins Today

New York hardcore upstarts Backtrack have arrived in Australia and will be kicking off their Australian tour tonight in Brisbane.

The tour which is in support of their crushing new record, Lost In Life (out now through Bridge Nine records), began with a brief trek through New Zealand over the last few days, and sees old friends reunite as Backtrack team up with Australian hardcore legends Iron Mind to tear rooms apart all across the country.

Both bands’ hard riffs and strong work ethic has seen them go from strength to strength in the last few years and 2014 looks …

New ‘Fast & Furious 7′ Poster Might Make You Cry

UPDATE: Director James Wan says the new poster is a fake. Well played, internet. Original post below:

When most people think of the Fast & Furious franchise their minds are overrun with images of high speed chases and over-the-top explosions, but the latest poster promoting the recently delayed seventh franchise installment takes a far more sentimental approach.

Accompanied by the message “This is where roads part,” the latest poster for 2015′s Fast & Furious 7 features two cars driving down an open road, with one vehicle turning off the pavement in such a way that the combined tire …

New Trailer For ‘The Raid 2′ Is Even Better Than The Last

Movie trailers are tricky business. On the one hand, you want each preview for your film to be as exciting as possible so that anyone who encounters any of the materials will be likely to seek out your feature. On the other hand, giving away too much up front can lead to people exiting the theater feeling a bit underwhelmed. Finding a balance between these extremes is key, and I think filmmaker Gareth Evans perfected his formula for movie promotion with the latest trailer for The Raid 2.

Premiering at Sundance this week before seeing a limited theatrical release …

Louis C.K. To Self-Release His 1998 Film Starring Steve Carrell, Amy Poehler

Before Louie was a smash hit on FX, comedian Louis C.K. was mostly known in the world of directing as being the guy responsible for Pootie Tang. While that may have been the directorial effort with the widest release, Louis has actually been responsible for a number of films, and sometime in February a never-before-released feature will finally see the light of day.

Titled Tomorrow Night, the next piece of media to be self-released by Louis C.K. originally premiered at Sundance in 1998. The film, which was the first to be written and directed by Louis, stars then-unknown …

Drake Plans To Release 5 New Songs Before 2014

“Not an EP, but maybe a blog thing like how I did ‘Versace,’ ‘The Motion,’ all those in one night. I’ll probably do ‘Trophies’ and three or four other records.”

Drake has always been one to give his fans a steady stream of new music, regardless of whether or not he’s working on another album. Earlier this year, he made headlines worldwide when he debuted a series of singles in one night during the promotional run for Nothing Was The Same. Now he’s planning a similar release of material for the coming weeks, and we have the first details …
