Jonny Lang Announces First Studio Album In 7 Years

Rock and blues connoisseurs know the name Jonny Lang, but unless you’re a diehard genre fan there is a decent chance many of our young readers have no idea about this masterful young musician. You see, Lang hasn’t released an album since 2006, which makes introducing him to the internet-addicted younger generations a little difficult. In that time, however, Lang has continued to tour and play sell out gigs around the world. We knew he would one day return, and finally that day has arrived.

According to a press release posted through Facebook this morning, Jonny Lang will release a …

Tool Working On First Album Since 2006

The notorious Los Angeles progressive metal band Tool confirmed yesterday that they will soon be getting back to work writing and arranging songs for the band’s upcoming record.

The band has just returned from Japan, where they played Ozzfest 2013, a two-day metal festival. Day one included the likes of headliner Slipknot, Slash (of Guns N’ Roses), Deftones, and more local Japanese bands. Day two of the festival included none other than the legendary Black Sabbath, Tool, Stone Sour (Corey Taylor had a busy two days), Dir En Grey, Steel Panther, and more locals. All of this and more, …

Aiden Begin Writing, Planning New (Final?) Album For 2014

Earlier this year, UTG sat down with William Control to discuss a number of things, including the fate of his punk band Aiden. At that point, Aiden had not been heard from in months, and it was clear from our discussion with William that it would be some time before that project was heard from again. He also mentioned the idea that Aiden may come to an end in the foreseeable future, and now it seems everything is slowly starting to come together.

Taking to Aiden’s official Facebook, William Control (real name Wil Francis) posted a lengthy update …

Peter Thomas, who worked with Betty on The Movement, let the cat out of the bag on Monday when he tweeted that work had officially begun on Who’s next release. Thomas posted, …

System Of A Down Bassist Blames Frontman Serj Tankian For Lack Of New Music

System Of A Down have not released a new album since 2005. In the time that has passed since that time UTG was born, over a dozen writers for the site graduated college, and the face of mainstream rock has completely changed at least three times over. Still, even with all that has happened, fans of SOAD continue to ask the band for new material and until now they have received almost nothing in the form of a response.

Taking to Facebook recently, System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian blamed the lack of new music on frontman Serj Tankian …

Will Smith Considering Making New Music; Developing Ideas With Kanye West

When images of Will Smith and Kanye West in South America together surfaced online earlier this year, fans on both sides of the fence began foaming at the mouth when considering the possibilities of what would happen should these two entertainment heavyweights join forces. At the time, we figured it was all speculation brought on by our seemingly endless desire to know everything Kanye West is planning, but now it seems there may indeed be more to the story.

Recently while doing press for his upcoming film, After Earth, Will Smith admitted he has indeed been considering a return …

Atreyu Tease Ending Hiatus; Consider Recording With “None Of That Major Label BS”

Remember Atreyu? A decade ago they were the next great heavy hope of Victory Records and their album The Curse was in production, but just over two years ago the group announced they would be taking “a long break” with the promise of not breaking up. The members quickly embarked on various solo projects and new groups, none of which have found success comparable to Atreyu, and now it seems the men from Orange County may be together once again.

On Saturday, May 11, a status update was posted to the official Atreyu account that reads “REPOST- …

Anberlin Have Begun Working on Their Seventh Album

According to a photo the band posted on Twitter, Property of Zack is reporting that Anberlin have begun working on their seventh album.

A tweet sent from the band’s Twitter account reads, “I work in a girled-up space. #jasmine #itsmellsnice #albumseven #shoesinside.”

Attached to this tweet was a photo of somebody wearing shoes, presumably in a woman’s household, accompanied by a Macbook, some headphones and a keyboard. His use of the #albumseven hashtag is what’s getting fans all giddy.

This release will act as the follow-up to Anberlin’s last album, Vital, which was released last year. Pick up Vital
