WATCH: Jack White Records, Presses, And Releases Record In One Day For Record Store Day

If you made a visit to your favorite record store on Saturday for Record Store Day 2014, you might have noticed that the lines were longer than they’ve been in years past. The vinyl fad is bigger than it has ever been before, and it shows. RSD 2014 saw artists and labels pressing crazy things like triangular 7″s and glow-in-the-dark variants to generate interest and top everyone else in the “wow” department. However, Jack White takes home the prize for his impressive feat in starting and finishing production for a record before the end of the day. You can …

Chiodos released their fourth studio album, Devil, at the beginning of the month. The album had two bonus tracks that weren’t available for purchase directly with it. The band decided to release a special pressing of the two tracks for Record Store Day. The songs are titled “Let Me Get You A Towel” and “R2me2.” You can give them a quick listen by taking a look below the jump.

The two songs aren’t currently available for purchase digitally, so in the meantime give these a spin. If/when they become available, be sure to pick them up!…

STREAM: Jack White – “Lazaretto”

We reported earlier this month that former White Stripes frontman Jack White will be releasing his second solo record, Lazaretto, on June 10. Along with that announcement came an instrumental track called “High Ball Stepper” and Jack White’s claim to release the “world’s fastest released record” ever.

Well…that day has come. Today fans get to hear “Lazaretto,” the first single and title track from the album.

According to Consequence of Sound, this track was recorded, mastered, pressed and sold for Record Store Day in just three hours and 21 minutes.

Fall In Love With Conor Oberst All Over Again With The B-Side “Fast Friends”

Record Store Day was this past weekend, and Bright Eyes’ mastermind Conor Oberst was behind one of the most sought after 7″ releases. I managed to snag a copy, but only hitting up a second store because my vinyl loving heart felt there was a hole that needed to be filled even though I had already spent $89. It was worth it, however, because the song this post centers around is now a part of my personal collection.

That blurb wasn’t meant to brag or boast, though it may read that way. I’m simply trying to find the best way …

MUST LISTEN: Sunny Day Real Estate – “Lipton Witch”

Record Store Day was yesterday, and there were plenty of releases for fans of all genres to look forward to. One of those releases was a split between Circa Survive and Sunny Day Real Estate. This split is particularly exciting because SDRE haven’t released new music together in fourteen years. While I do love Circa Survive, SDRE’s “Lipton Witch” is definitely the biggest reason to grab the split. You can give it a listen by taking a look below the jump.

If you missed out on grabbing the split yesterday, you can always try to pick it up on …

Required Listening: Circa Survive – “Scentless Apprentice” (Nirvana Cover)

It’s Record Store Day! We hope those of you who were able to shop this morning got out and did your part to celebrate and support the industry we’ve dedicated our lives to covering, but even if you left as soon as you woke up today there is a good chance you came home with a few items missing from your RSD wish list. We cannot help you acquire those records, but we can help you experience some of the music you may be missing.

Circa Survive were one of a dozen artists chosen to cover a song off Nirvana

Record Store Day is almost upon us, and pop superstars Fun. will be participating in this year’s event with the release of Point and Light, a collection of demos recorded prior to the group’s 2009 debut album, Aim and Ignite. Physical copies will be available exclusively at independent stores tomorrow, but you can stream the five-song EP right now after the break.

Fans will no doubt be familiar with the final versions of these songs, but it’s still interesting to hear the progression that the arrangements went through before the official recording. “Light a Roman Candle With Me,” …
