Rae Sremmurd Release Official “No Flex Zone” Music Video

I don’t know how long it took me to realize Rae Sremmurd was “ear drummers” spelled backwards, but when I did, the name of this fast-rising rap duo made a lot more sense.

This morning, brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jimmy, better known as Rae Sremmurd, released the official video for “No Flex Zone.” The song, which in recent weeks has become a hot commodity in the world of remixes and freestyles, has been gaining a lot of traction on terrestrial radio since its debut in May. There is no word yet on whether or not the duo have a …

Dance Gavin Dance Re-Sign With Rise Records

We usually don’t worry too much about short stories, but today is proving to be far slower than most.

Our brothers and sisters at PropertyOfZack confirmed earlier today that Dance Gavin Dance have resigned with Rise Records. Though the exact details of the deal were not disclosed, the site claims the band will release the next “couple” records through Rise.

Dance Gavin Dance have spent their entire career on Rise Records, so I am sure there are a few of you out there who are less than shocked by this news. Still, it’s exciting to know we can expect more …

Waka Flocka Claims He’s Signing Amanda Bynes, Already Working On Debut Album

This is the kind of headline you expect to see on satire sites, but it is indeed the truth. May deities have mercy on our souls.

In a new article on TMZ, hip hop superstar Waka Flocka Flame has revealed he is currently finalizing plans to sign Amanda Bynes to a recording contract. Again, this is not a joke.

According to the story, conversations with Brick Squad Monopoly Records are ongoing, but Waka Flocka claims the deal is essentially “in the bag.” He’s so confident, in fact, he has already begun looking for songwriters to assist on Bynes’ debut. …

Chiodos Sign With Razor & Tie

Just two days after announcing plans to keep announcing things until they have new music to share with us (which won’t be until the Fall), Chiodos have partnered with AltPress to announce they signed a new record deal with Razor & Tie.

Speaking on the deal, keyboardist Bradley Bell offered “There needs to be more labels like Razor & Tie out there. I feel like they actually understand the bands motives and will do what it takes to help us present our vision. It’s going to be a fun adventure that we are about to embark on with them.”

Lauryn Hill Sentencing Pushed Back, Signs $1 Million Record Deal With Sony

It is no secret that Fugees alumni Lauryn Hill has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons this year.

She evaded paying taxes from 2005 to 2007 and is looking to spend time in jail for failing to pay an astounding $968,000. TMZ has reported that Hill’s sentencing date has been pushed back until May 6.

On a more positive note, Lauryn Hill has signed a $1 million record deal with Sony and is planning to take out a $650,000 loan to help pay for the tax debts. Hopefully this will be the turn around the hip-hop icon …

HiM Sign To Razor & Tie, Tour And Album Coming Soon

According to the most hypercritical news post I’ve seen made on a website other than UTG, HiM have signed to Razor & Tie Records. Their next album, Tears On Tape, will be released on April 30. At first, I thought that album title was just a play on sadder sounding music, but it turns out that it is actually the album title.

A tour is expected to be announced next week, according to the press release. Tears On Tape will be the first record the band has done since 2010’s Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice released on Sire …

Georgia-based rapped Trinidad James has been the talk of underground hip hop since the release of his debut mixtape, Don’t Be S.A.F.E. Multiple sources are confirming the news, including PremiereHipHop, but James himself has yet to make a comment.

We were going to save this information until the weekend, but James’ mixtape will be appearing in a special feature around the highlights of 2012 in the coming days. If you haven’t experienced …

The Weeknd Signs With Universal Republic, Announces “Trilogy” Release

Canada’s The Weeknd has gone major.

Even though his name is still fresh on the lips of most music fans, The Weeknd has dominated the blogosphere over the better part of the last two years. His crooning goes into sonic territory that is still largely unexplored by mainstream artists, and this deal could lead to big things for a whole realm of great, soulful artists on the rise. His first release will be Trilogy, a compilation of his previous three mixtapes with new material included for longtime supporters. Fan favorite “Wicked Games” will be the lead single, and sources …

Drake Addresses “Leaving Young Money” Rumors

Drake has found more success from his latest releases than even we expected and as a result, the rumor mill is alive and well.

Earlier this week, rumors began circulating online that Drizzy Drake was considering leaving his family at Young Money in search of a bigger, better deal. This is (of course) untrue, but rumors have persisted to the point that Aubrey felt the need to speak out.

While on stage in Toronto, Drake proclaimed “If you ever wake up and think Young Money ain’t my team, you out your mind. My brother Lil Wayne is all the way …
