MUSIC VIDEO: Danny Brown – “25 Bucks” (Feat. Purity Ring)

One of hip-hop’s most eclectic and exciting talents, otherwise known as Danny Brown, has released a brand new music video for “25 Bucks,” his somber collaboration with Purity Ring hailing from last year’s Old. The video is a rather chilling affair as it finds Brown and Purity Ring’s Megan James wandering through a home based on the song’s troubling lyrics frozen in time.

Hear Unreleased Chance the Rapper Song “The Writer”

Chance the Rapper has been on a roll this past month. He shared the “special” new song “Home Studio (Back in This Bitch),” began collaborating with Skrillex, and now he’s shared an unheard, older song that keeps his name in check.

The song, titled “The Writer,” is from 2012 and was done in collaboration with the production collective THEMpeople. To put it in context, that means this is from the same era as his 10 Day mixtape days. It’s a beautiful piano beat by Apollo Brown that makes his rap about his struggle to the top all …

Drake Releases “Days In The East”

For the second time in a week Drake has released a previously unannounced single online. His new song is titled “Days In The East,” and it’s available to be streamed below. This is a song that he had previously performed live, but hadn’t premiered digitally until now.

Unlike “Draft Day,” “Days In The East” is much slower. This is Drake’s version of a love song, and it’s pretty catchy. It’s apparently dedicated to Rihanna, and even samples her song “Stay.”…

UTG PHOTOS: The Never Sober Tour (3/25/14)

Under The Gun sent guest photographer, Tyler LaBeau, to The Never Sober Tour at The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI.

The Never Sober Tour was exactly what the name implies. From the second I got out of my car and walked towards the venue, everyone in line was under the influence and ready to party all night. Before I myself made it inside, I saw one girl get taken away by paramedics, and 3 people turned away at the door for being too far under the influence to function properly. So needless to say, I was at a Juicy J show. …

WHY? Release “Waterlines” Music Video, Yoni Wolf Announces Solo Rap Tour

This year marks the 10 years since WHY? first formed back in 2004 in Berkeley, CA. The alternative hip hop group was started by Yoni Wolf, and today we have news regarding both.

WHY?’s last album, Mumps, Etc, came out back in 2012, but today the band has shared a music video for the track “Waterlines.” It’s straightforward in its shots, showing nothing but Wolf rapping sartorially in some shades against a yellow wall, but effective all the same. Watch it after the jump.

Along with the video comes news that both WHY? and Yoni Wolf (solo) will be touring. …

Wu-Tang Clan to Sell One Copy of New (Secret) Album

They weren’t lying when they said “Cash rules everything around me.” Wu-Tang Clan have announced that they are releasing a double album entitled The Wu–Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and that it will be possibly the most limited release to date. They want to sell only one physical copy of the album. Start saving up your money, kids. This is an album that they have apparently been recording in secret for apparently the past 20 years and they are saying that they are wanting “millions” for it.

One of the major brains behind Wu-Tang, the RZA said, “We’re …

Unreleased Nas Song “I’m a Villain” Surfaces

In just a few weeks, Queens rapper Nas‘ monumental debut album, Illmatic, will turn 20. To celebrate, a special double reissue titled Illmatic XX will be released and Nas will tour in support of the record. One of the discs features rare remixes, unreleased demos, and freestyles, one of which surfaced today.

The song, titled “I’m a Villain,” was recorded somewhere between 1991 and 1994, produced by Large Professor, and is reportedly an early version of “N.Y. State of Mind.” In classic Nas style, the song showcased Nas’ lyrical frenzy over a beat that doesn’t mess around. The …

LOL WHAT: Shaq Says He’s Retired From Rap, But Still Wants To Make ‘Steel 2′

Sports icon and part-time rapper/actor Shaquille O’Neal has been making headlines recently after partnering with a game company to crowdfund a sequel to the infamous mid-1990s game Shaq Fu. For those unfamiliar with the game, it featured Shaq battling ninjas, and most found it to be one of the worst games ever released to stores. There’s even a website dedicated to making sure every existing copy is destroyed. Seriously.

RollingStone is running an article on Shaq’s efforts to create a new game today, and in it the basketball legend opens up about his other side projects in entertainment …

Young Thug Still Signed to 1017 Brick Squad

There’s been a lot of talk regarding who 22-year-old rapper Young Thug is signed to, and now Billboard is claiming he isn’t signed to Young Money like we thought, but rather the original 1017 Brick Squad/Atlantic listing.

Young Thug signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad back in 2013, but he recently talks like he’s an unsigned musician. During a SiriusXM interview, he said he was a part of Future’s Freebandz label; when talking with a reporter, he said he had signed to Cash Money; when “Stoner” first began charting in February, no label was listed.

“I want to …
