Lupe Fiasco Discusses Label Frustrations and Ponders Retirement In New Interview

Lupe Fiasco has taken an odd turn over the last couple of years. For a short time, he was the music industry’s golden goose, but when his motivations for creating music became more message-based and political many turned their backs. I still dig Lupe, and I know many of you do too. Unfortunately, his label may soon cause us to lose one of the greatest voices urban music has ever encountered.

Speaking with Angie Martinez in a new interview, Fiasco opened up about problems with his label while discussing plans for his next album. He said, “[I want to] just …

WAIT, WHAT? Comeback Kid Drummer Leaves Band For New South African Venture

Kyle Profeta is now the Cat Stevens of hardcore music. He’s announced that he is leaving Comeback Kid after 14 years in order to pursue a new chapter of his life.

At the end of May, Profeta will be heading down to South Africa to start a food truck business. We wish Kyle the best of luck, but after all, he’s already toured most of the world, so it may be time to settle down. He’s released a bunch of albums, a DVD, and can officially say he was a staple in the hardcore community. From my personal experience with …

Suicide Silence

All Shall Perish Bassist States They Did Not Fire Eddie For Joining Suicide Silence

It was announced earlier this month that Eddie Hermida of All Shall Perish would be replacing the late Mitch Luker as frontman of Suicide Silence. The band initially released a statement that Eddie quit to be with Suicide Silence full time, but Eddie claimed otherwise. In an interview with Metal Injection, Eddie stated he was asked to step away from the band, even though he was committed to be in both groups.

Mike Tiner, the bassist and one of the band’s founding members, wasted no time in reaching out to Metal Injection to clear things up. He stated …

Sad news out of the indie world this morning. After nearly three decades together, Kim Deal has quit The Pixies.

Tame Impala's, Nick Allbrook (no longer in band)

Tame Impala Bassist Leaves Band

Pitchfork reports, Tame Impala bassist, Nick Allbrook, played his last show on Saturday night at the Belvoir Amphitheatre in Australia. The news comes as some surprise, especially since the band’s current album, Lonerism, was listed at the top of many fan’s and critic’s lists for album of the year in 2012.

In an official statement through Tame Impala’s website, Nick Allbrook “is hopping off the Tame Impala band wagon so that he can try and screw his head back on, and make an attempt to assimilate back into society. A task the rest of us fear we will one …

Attack! Attack! (UK) Announce Break Up Plans

When I woke to a text alert telling me Attack Attack had broken up, I legitimately lept from bed in my Boston home and scrambled to my laptop. Ohio’s Attack Attack! have been one of our most covered bands, and to hear that they quietly announced their break up in the dead of the night seemed strange. Then I logged on to realize the company behind the aforementioned text alert didn’t understand how important the exclamation point is in the band’s name and that, my friends, is how I learned the UK based Attack! Attack! were going to be parting …

Ryan Gosling Planning To “Take A Break” From Acting

After appearing in (roughly) every third film released over the last year, The Place Beyond The Pines star Ryan Gosling has expressed a desire to take a break from acting in the near future.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Gosling explained that he feels the time has come to take a step back, stating “I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way …

Attack Attack! Lose Frontman Caleb Shomo; New Vocalist Already Recruited

Ohio-based act Attack Attack! have been relatively quiet this Fall. From what we recall, the group had a short run of shows near Halloween, but that has pretty much been it. This morning, our friends at PropertyOfZack may have solved the reason behind the band’s silence, and it’s a story that feels awfully familiar for this heavy band.

According to their sources, POZ can confirm that Caleb Shomo is no longer the vocalist for Attack Attack! The band has replaced Shomo already, but no names or announcements have been made. If we had to guess, the fact this news has …
