As much as Handguns have been considered a part of the current pop-punk movement, I have always thought of them as something of an outlier. Their music may play well alongside current alt-rock favorites, but the themes in their music and the way their fans engage with them is something wholly unique unto Handguns. What gives them this ability is not something you can pinpoint or pick apart, but rather something you feel when their music plays. It’s inspired by the now, but it’s also hoping to be something so much more than a disposable perspective on a fleeting moment …
Following their highly-anticipated, return-to-the-scene 2014 EP, Go Down In History, Four Year Strong make a very firm “we’re back and better than ever” statement in the form of their brand new full-length, self-titled record.
The Worcester, MA four-piece welcomed eleven killer tracks into their catalog, serving up some of their finest easycore material to date and transcending their music further and further to the top – proving more and more each day that musicians are always able to move past bad reception for an old release.
This record, which we just reviewed over the holiday weekend, is officially out …
Counterparts have proven their worth as the most promising band in melodic metalcore with their fantastic 2013 record, The Difference Between Hell And Home. The Canadian band will follow up that near-perfect record with Tragedy Will Find Us, out August 1 on Pure Noise. You can stream the first single, “Burn,” below.
“Burn” starts off as a standard Counterparts song, with a melodic guitar riff that begins to build up the emotional weight carried by the urgent instrumentals and vocals. Things get weird around the 90-second mark with a tempo change that I love and a spoken word …

Title: The Story So Far
Label: Pure Noise
There seems to be a divide among those within The Story So Far’s reach. You were either very heavily into From Under Soil And Dirt or heavily into What You Don’t See. These two are equally excellent records that possess profound differences. I personally fall in the first cluster. I’m a sucker for melody and contour. Throw in some aggressive gang vocals and deep-cut one-liners and you can take me home. This is what many had hoped would come of their new self-titled …
Arguably one of the best (if not the best) songs off of State Champs‘ latest The Acoustic Things EP is a song entitled “If I’m Lucky.” Today the Albany, NY pop-punk five-piece has released the music video for this song and it most definitely suits the cutesy, acoustic vibe going around.
The music video features a nice little monologue at the beginning and goes on to showcase road trip footage of a young couple. You can check it out below and let us know what you think.
Additionally, the band will be heading out on tour this spring as …
Artist: Front Porch Step
Album: Whole Again EP
Genre: Acoustic folk
Label: Pure Noise Records
I’ve grown to love the EP format over the years. When it’s properly executed, a shorter release offers a perfectly sized stopgap for fans between records, while giving the artist an opportunity to try new things in a sidestep from the high risk, career benchmark, full-length format. In this regard, Front Porch Step has nailed it with Whole Again. The short, fifteen-minute EP features three new songs, all of which offer a new take on Front Porch Step mastermind Jake Mcelfresh’s distinct songwriting style, …

Title: The Acoustic Things EP
Label: Pure Noise Records
Genre: Acoustic Pop-Punk
After every solid full-band release comes an internal, unspoken desire for an entirely acoustic follow-up of said solid full-band release. The whole “how could this have sounded differently?” mindset comes to play within the corners of the non-audio engineer’s brain. Whether or not this is actually executed (and executed well, at that) is only a matter of the band’s ability to deliver the same solid content without the help of aggressive percussions and tasteful bass guitar riffs; two of the key elements to a …
UK-based skate punk trio Gnarwolves are following up their three EPs — which were all compiled into the full-length The Chronicles Of Gnarnia earlier this year — with a new, self-titled debut LP that’s due out on September 23 through Pure Noise Records.
Premiering over at Juice Magazine is “Boneyard,” our second taste of the new album following “Smoking Kills” which dropped around this time last month. Opening with a fast-paced burst of punk energy and progressing with melody and sing-along choruses, Gnarwolves is shaping up to be one hell of an entertaining release if “Boneyard” and “Smoking …
Artist: Four Year Strong
Album: Go Down In History
Label: Pure Noise Records
With the rapid evolution of the pop-punk industry, it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with new releases, making it incredibly refreshing to hear that old timers are going to put out new music. Seamlessly picking back up from 2011, Four Year Strong are set to release their newest EP, Go Down In History, on July 22 through Pure Noise Records. The speculations of a breakup have long left us, and with Warped Tour and this EP, it’s like the band never even …
Pop punk favorites Handguns have released a full stream of their upcoming album, Life Lessons.
Premiering exclusively on Substream, Life Lessons showcases handguns at their most focused and mature. As guitarist Brandon Pagano explained back in May, “Musically, we went in and wrote a faster, more aggressive record. I don’t think we meant to, but with what was going on at the time, we felt like that’s what we needed to do.”
You can stream Life Lessons, in full, at the end of this post.
Handguns are the kind of band that will tour until the wheels …
With only one day remaining until their upcoming full-length, VOID, is finally set to release, Vanna have premiered a brand new music video for “Digging” exclusively on Fuse. Pre-order options for the Pure Noise Records release on vinyl and CD formats are still available on MerchNow, so be sure to check them out before midnight.
If you enjoy “Digging,” be sure to catch Vanna on one of the many dates of this year’s edition of Vans Warped Tour (all dates and locations are listed here).
Handguns have partnered with our friends at Rocksound to premiere a new song titled “Queens.”
The latest track to surface off Handguns‘ upcoming third album, Life Lessons, “Queens” channels the youthful drive to chase whatever dreams come your way against a wall of pop punk ripe with a late-90s influence. Vocalist Taylor Eby says Life Lessons is “a record about self-realisation, rebuilding, letting go of the past and focusing on what’s in front of you. Every song is an experience we have been through, and through those experiences we were able to gain something. We feel that this …
