The American Scene Will Release ‘Haze’ On September 9

The American Scene return to release their new LP, Haze, September 9 through Pure Noise Records. My most anticipated for 2014 now has an official release date.

The band released their sophomore LP, Safe For Now, back in late 2012 through Pure Noise Records to much acclaim. With a high appreciation for Pedro The Lion, Safe For Now is a sonically diverse album, filled with striking vocals, fighting guitars, and a groove heavy rhythm section.

Pure Noise Records has released two teasers for the new album, both featuring clips of a new track. The album appears to be …

VINYL REVIEW: The Story So Far – ‘Songs Of’

Artist: The Story So Far
Album: Songs Of
Release Date: June 17, 2014
Label: Pure Noise Records

After much delay, the 10-inch vinyl release of The Story So Far’s five-track acoustic EP, Songs Of, has finally arrived.

Following the success of the band’s lovely “Clairvoyant,” an acoustic cut that was released on an excellent 7″ split with Stick To Your Guns, the California-based pop-punk front runners decided to release an all-acoustic EP featuring new, stripped down versions of tracks from their highly popular 2013 release What You Don’t See, along with a new song and a …

STREAM: Gnarwolves – “Smoking Kills”

Back in February, Gnarwolves graced us with a delightfully gritty compilation before retreating from the limelight to begin work on their self-titled debut. Though we’re still waiting on an exact release date, earlier this morning, we were given our first glimpse of the group’s forthcoming effort in the form of a fast-paced new single titled “Smoking Kills.” Check it out here via Noisey, and let us know what you think in the replies.

Thom Weeks, who makes up one-third of the Brighton-based trio, had this to say about the outfit’s latest:…

To The Wind Stream ‘Block Out The Sun & Sleep’ In Full

Pure Noise Records hardcore outfit To The Wind have partnered with our friends at Revolver to share a full stream of their new album in advance of the record’s stateside release.

It’s hard to describe To The Wind without referencing the numerous hardcore legends that undoubtedly influenced their angst-laden take on modern hardcore. Block Out The Sun & Sleep plays like an eleven track look at life torn asunder under the weight of one’s own decisions. Sometimes you make the right choice, but more often than not you make a mistake and must find a way to recover. There is …

Front Porch Step

MUSIC VIDEO: Front Porch Step – “Aware”

Front Porch Step is back with a new music video for his track “Aware.” The video takes place on a sailboat and is simple, subtle, and to be honest, pretty beautiful.

The great thing about Jake Mcelfresh’s writing is the utmost brutal honesty that runs rampant in his lyrics. He posseses the ability to be straightforward and literal one moment then clever and metaphorical in the next.

When I first saw the interview that UTG staffer John Bazley conducted with him, I was surprised by his demeanor. He had a bit of a snarky and sarcastic side to his attitude …

REVIEW: Four Year Strong – ‘Go Down In History’

Artist: Four Year Strong
Album: Go Down In History
Genre: Pop-Punk
Label: Pure Noise Records

With the rapid evolution of the pop-punk industry, it has become increasingly difficult to keep up with new releases, making it incredibly refreshing to hear that old timers are going to put out new music. Seamlessly picking back up from 2011, Four Year Strong are set to release their newest EP, Go Down In History, on July 22 through Pure Noise Records. The speculations of a breakup have long left us, and with Warped Tour and this EP, it’s like the band never even …

Vanna 2014

REVIEW: Vanna – ‘Void’

Artist: Vanna
Title: Void
Label: Pure Noise Records
Genre: Hardcore

Like a steam locomotive, Vanna have become a seemingly unstoppable force that has only gained momentum with each and every release. Though their thrashy spin on hardcore has always been their central driving force to their music, it was the creative risk-taking and progression displayed on the band’s 2012 release, The Few and Far Between, that showed they had much more up their sleeves. The brutality of their early work and the creativity of their most recent efforts came to one gnarly collision this year when they entered the …

ALBUM STREAM: Vanna – ‘Void’

I have been a fan of Vanna since high school. With each release the band has tweaked and developed their sound to what it is today. Void is their fifth full length album, and it’s set to be released June 17 via Pure Noise Records. Fans have been anxiously waiting for the album to come out, and now we don’t have to wait any longer to hear it as the band has teamed up with Alternative Press to stream the album a week early. You can also check it out right below the break.

You still have some time to …

Front Porch Step (Emily Tantuccio Photography)

UTG TV: Front Porch Step On The Boardwalk At Skate And Surf

By some error, Front Porch Step was accidentally omitted from the Saturday line-up at Skate And Surf Festival. On the day of the show, the festival realized their mistake and told Front Porch Step mastermind Jake Mcelfresh that he’d be performing on one of the side stages as doors opened. As the festival-goers slowly worked their way through the gates, Jake took the stage and performed to a small, but enthusiastic crowd for his twenty-minute set time. Despite the confusion, there was a good handful of Front Porch Step fans belting along to every word of the songs from his …
