Finally, almost two years since their arrest, Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova have been freed from prison. During a news conference on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir confirmed their release.

Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova have been freed three months early thanks to the new amnesty law Russian legislators have adopted, providing that prisoners “who haven’t committed violent crimes, first-time offenders, minors and women with small children” are granted amnesty from their imprisonment.

Unfortunately, that law wasn’t written thanks to Pussy Riot. “I was not sorry that they [the Pussy Riot members] ended up behind bars,” Putin said. “I was …

The Russian government responded, citing Russian regulation that stated that they had up to ten days after a prison transfer to inform the family of a prisoner’s whereabouts.

Now, it seems that Tolokonnikova has been transferred to a prison facility in Siberia, over 2,000 miles and multiple time zones away from Moscow. According to Tolokonnikova’s husband, Petya Verzilov, he is “100 percent” …

Now, Russian officials have responded to the curious nature of Tolokonnikova’s silence, claiming that her family will be informed of her status within ten days of her arrival to her new prison ordinance, as …
