The track is scheduled to be released on the upcoming album, Dynamics. Coincidentally, Holy Ghost! …

The Dodos have teamed up with Polyvinyl Records to release their new album, Carrier, due out August 27. It’s slated to be the fifth album by the San Francisco natives, and the follow-up to their 2011 release, No Color.

The leader of the band, Meric Long, was deeply affected by the death of Christopher Reimer, who played guitar with the band, but unexpectedly passed away in his sleep early 2012. pop evil 2012

Pop Evil Stream “Goodbye My Friend”

Michigan bred rockers Pop Evil have released a stream of a new song entitled, “Goodbye My Friend.”

The second song to surface off the group’s forthcoming album Onyx, “Goodbye My Friend” is a bass heavy rock track about being betrayed by someone close to you. Compared to the lead single “Trenches,” this song shows much more progression for the group from their last album, and the lyrics are some of the strongest in modern rock today. Vocalist Leigh Kakaty commands the mic, with his signature soaring vocals giving hope amidst even the bleakest of song, and the …

Koji

STREAM: Koji – “In The Line”

Here we are, less than one month away from the release of Koji‘s debut LP, Crooked In My Mind, and as of today we finally have an official lead single from the record. “In The Line” shows a lot of maturity in comparison to this Run For Cover artist’s past material. Included in the announcement of the stream was also the unveiling of the record’s pre-order packages.

What really makes this packaging strategy stick out among others is that along with the typical products and bundles like t-shirts, beanies, and the always worthwhile 3xLP deal, a portion of the …

Envoi March 2013

UTG PREMIERE: ENVOI – What Happened in Wyoming (Lyric Video)

It’s been a few years since I first saw the original incarnation of Envoi in a dingy concert club on the east side of Cleveland. Back then, it was more of a post-hardcore outfit, slinging Jonny Craig inspired vibes from the Grog Shop’s stage. These days, things are far different. A fresh lineup and a new direction is carrying the band’s name to new heights. This version of Envoi is clean, able, and well prepared.

Now fronted by vocal power-house Maddie Finn, these Cleveland natives are rising phoenix-like from the ashes of their past. With local support and a quickly …

STREAM: Vampire Weekend’s new songs, “Diane Young” and “Step”

After their first full performance in nearly a year at SXSW last night, Vampire Weekend released two new tracks from their upcoming third-studio album, Modern Vampires of the City.

The first track, “Diane Young” is an upbeat and distorted rock driven song, even by Vampire Weekend standards. The group’s production, detuned vocals, and sampling may seem a bit off base to the casual Vampire Weekend fan, but with a track record of skillful song arrangement, the band can manage to pull off almost anything.

“Step” is more of a contemporary Vampire Weekend track, and a beautiful one at that. The …

Transit Stream “Nothing Lasts Forever”; Announces Headlining Tour With Seahaven and Young Statues

Transit have just debuted their lead single off of their third full length album, Young New England.

Seeing as how much the band progresses with their music, it’s safe to say that Transit will never put out the same album. “Nothing Lasts Forever” boasts both poise and maturity from the Boston, MA quintet. Alongside the stream of the song, the group has also announced a headlining tour to promote the album. Seahaven and Young Statues will be hopping onto the 30+ date trek as well.
