UTG LIST: Pixar Movies We Want to See Sequels To

You have to really be careful how you word things, because it can get many hopes up. Talking to you, Bob Iger, Disney CEO. Last week Bob mentioned in a conference call that Pixar has “fantastic original stories as well as some great sequels to their previous hits.” That’s not just sequel, which is Finding Nemo’s Finding Dory due out November 2015. That alludes to some other movies in the works, right?

It makes you wonder what they have up their sleeves for some of the movies we already know we love. So here are five movies that we …

NOT A JOKE: Love ‘Cars’? Here’s Your First Look At Disney’s ‘Planes’

You know a spinoff film is destined for greatness when one of the companies behind the original is no longer involved, nor any of the original cast, and the release was bumped from Direct-To-DVD to theatrical. Such is the case with Disney’s upcoming animated feature, Planes.

Made without the help of Pixar, who famously saw a dip in their popularity with the release of Cars, Disney’s Planes hopes to kickstart a new franchise (aka vehicle for toy sales) that will take everyone’s love of talking machinery to the skies. The film was originally scheduled to arrive Direct-To-DVD in …

RUMOR: Disney Pixar Planning 2015 Release For ‘Toy Story 4,’ Tim Allen and Tom Hanks To Return

In an age where sequels are greenlit before official numbers are in for a film’s opening weekend, it may seem peculiar to some that Pixar have yet to speak of plans to continue their ever-popular Toy Story series. The third installment was one of the most successful animated films of all time, and it’s not like Disney to let one of their best-selling franchises go to pasture before their time. That said, the end of the last film pretty much said all there was to say about the adventures of Buzz and Woody, right?

Apparently not.

According to a Columbian …

MOVIE TRAILER: Monsters University

Please welcome the new trailer for Pixar’s Monsters University, the sequel to Pixar classic Monsters, Inc. While we’ve been shown little short teasers, we finally are given a full trailer that tells a lot more of what the plot of this story will be. I was initially skeptical, but after watching the trailer I’m most certainly sold on returning to this amazing Pixar universe again.

Monsters University tells the story of the franchise’s heroes Mike and Sully, and how they met in college. The two are both studying to be scarers, and the film shows the rivalry that these …

THE SHORT CUT: An Interview with Pixar Director Mark Walsh

The Short Cut is a new column on Under The Gun that showcases the careers of short film directors. Shorts are often overlooked when it comes to the entire spectrum of film, and by including interviews with the directors themselves and information about their creative efforts, this column will highlight the work of some of the medium’s dignitaries that we feel deserve your attention.

For two and a half decades, the brilliant minds at Pixar Animation Studios have been hard at work, collectively creating what have easily become the most beloved animated movies for children and adults alike. From 1995′s …

EDITORIAL: “Brave: Why Pixar Should Take the Animated Flick’s Healthy Performance with a Grain of Salt”

Even with 13 record-breaking animated pictures under its belt, Pixar’s success continues to astound. There is arguably no entertainment company with as much goodwill as the Disney-owned, California-based production studio. Since it unleashed Toy Story in 1995, Pixar has amassed one of the most loyal fan bases in movie history. The company’s consistent track record has allowed its name to become a stamp of quality on a product and even a powerful marketing tool. Supporters can point to the studio’s latest release Brave – which opened to a healthy $66.7 million this weekend – as more proof of the brand’s …

MOVIE REVIEW: Brave

Film: Brave
Directed by: Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman, Steve Purcell

There are a few things certain in my life. I’ll always love pop punk music, I’ll always wish I was Indiana Jones, and I will always, almost to an obsessive point, love Pixar films. It’s a well-known fact that Pixar can put out almost any movie and I (read: almost everyone) will not just enjoy it, but I will revel in it. There are two exceptions to this rule (in my opinion) – The Cars series is generally  boring (in comparison to all other Pixar films).

When I saw that …

MOVIE TRAILER: Brave

Pixar has released the latest trailer for their upcoming Summer epic, Brave.

Coming to 3D and 2D theaters on June 22, Brave is Pixar’s first film where the main character is female. The official synopsis is as follows:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of …

Tom Hanks claims “Toy Story 4″ is on the way

No lie, I wept like a child during Toy Story 3. I know I’m not alone in this either, especially considering the film not only won an Oscar, but also grossed $1,063,171,911 at the global box office (yes, that is billion). However, I thought we wrapped things up nicely at the end when (spoiler alert) the toys were passed along to their new owner. There was no need to keep going, Andy, and us as a viewer, had ended the journey.

…Or have we?

While speaking with the BBC this week, Tom Hanks sparked a flurry …
