UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (5/25/12)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas went to Twenty One Pilots‘ first headlining show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on May 25th.

I follow the record label, Fueled By Ramen, so I thought I should check out the newest members of the label. The day FBR announced TOP was part of the family, I checked them out and instantly fell in love with their tunes. Not to mention they’re from my home state of Ohio and can …

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to photograph Pop Evil on their current tour.

Never one to turn down an opportunity to travel or see a show outside of Cleveland, I found myself on the wide open road, well, technically a few freeways & the Turnpike, on my way to Pittsburgh, PA.  Pittsburgh has an array of venues and I finally got the chance to check out Stage AE, American Eagle’s gorgeous multi-level venue featuring one outdoor and two indoor stages, right next to the river in the heart of Pittsburgh.  Thursday, March 15th, Pop Evil graced …

UTG PHOTOS: DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL (11/19/11)

Music serves more than just a purpose for our ears; it is the soundtrack to our memories.  There are some bands I consistently listen to not because they’re all that new or current, but because they remind me of the ability music has to create a timeline of events, feelings, friendships, and more in our lives.  Dashboard Confessional, and more specifically Chris Carrabba, made up a good portion of the soundtrack to my high school days.  Upon the announcement of his current tour, I was excited to find that the closest city he would be playing was Pittsburgh on Saturday, …

Only rap station in Pittsburgh is no more

wamo_ad

There isn’t one person in the United States that hasn’t felt the wrath of the recession in some way or another, but one of the biggest things on the decline is hip-hop music. Record sales are at an all time low, shows are failing to sell tickets and of course radio stations are crumbling. The latest recession failure of the rhyming world  is 106.7 WAMO, the only radio station in Pittsburgh that plays rap music, which was sold recently to a Christian station for $8.9M.
