“You know it’s gonna be a f***ing good night!” screamed The Airborne Toxic Event‘s lead singer, Mikel Jollet, as he ran onstage at the Warfield in San Francisco, CA. Hailing from Los Angeles, the five piece group got their name from a section in the novel “White Noise” by Don DeLillo, which …

UTG PHOTOS: THE ROCKET SUMMER (3/31/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to the Rocket Summer Tour on March 31, 2013 in Cleveland.

The Rocket Summer has always been a band that has held a huge, gigantic spot in my heart, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I’ve had the opportunity to see TRS live on several occasions over the years, but never had the opportunity to shoot any of the shows. Exactly ten years after the release of “Calendar Days” and ten years after my ears first heard the sweet, sweet sounds of Bryce Avary’s soulful, happy voice, I had the opportunity to shoot …

MOVIE REVIEW: Chasing Ice

Film: Chasing Ice
Director: Jeff Orlowski

Last week I went to a screening of the environmental documentary, Chasing Ice. I’ve been waiting a bit to write the review because the film held a really heavy impact on me initially, and I wanted to write my thoughts on the feature after taking a step back. Environmental documentaries are really hit or miss with me, mostly because they can be extremely biased, but then again that’s the intent of most hard hitting documentaries are anyway. For something to carry a lot of weight, the subject matter generally is controversial, with two different …

Gold Motel

UTG PHOTOS: Gold Motel (7/18/12)

Under The Gun’s photographer Tori Thomas attended Gold Motel’s show at Grog Shop on July 18.

I showed up to Grop Shop expecting an awesome show, which is always achieved. The show consisted of two local artists, These Knees and Leah Lou & The 2 Left Shoes, and Gold Motel closing out the night. These Knees started off the night, and did an awesome job at it; I really got into their music. Next up was Leah Lou & The 2 Left Shoes, who blew me away. When they were setting up their gear, I was amazed by the …

UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (5/27/12)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended another Twenty One Pilots show this past weekend. She captured some photos from TOP’s show at Grog Shop in Cleveland, OH on May 27th.

After attending the Twenty One Pilots show in Pittsburgh, I had to attend the Cleveland show at Grog Shop (I was planning on attending the Cleveland date even before going to the Pittsburgh show). I was definitely not disappointed at this show! The crowd was significantly larger, but that is expected when TOP plays a home state show. Many fans from all over the state of Ohio traveled to …

UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (5/25/12)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas went to Twenty One Pilots‘ first headlining show at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on May 25th.

So I’m a new fan of Twenty One Pilots, which leads this to be my first time seeing them live. I follow the record label, Fueled By Ramen, so I thought I should check out the newest members of the label. The day FBR announced TOP was part of the family, I checked them out and instantly fell in love with their tunes. Not to mention they’re from my home state of Ohio and can …

Never Shout Never

UTG PHOTOS: Never Shout Never (5/6/12)

Under The Gun sent photographer Tori Thomas to the Never Shout Never show featuring NSN, Koji, Kurt Travis, and BEARCAT in Cleveland, OH at Grog Shop on May 6th.

I adventured to Cleveland for the Never Shout Never show, which I felt very old being in the crowd. This was the first time in a long time I actually went in the crowd, and I did it all for the photos! The show started off with a local artist performing 4 songs acoustically, it was actually her first time performing and she picked the perfect crowd! (I forget her stage …

UTG PHOTOS: Fun. & Miniature Tigers (4/18/12)

Under The Gun sent photographer Tori Thomas to photograph the fun. and Miniature Tigers show in Grand Rapids on April 18th.

I arrived at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI expecting a great show, and that’s exactly what I got. The show started off with Miniature Tigers pumping up the crowd; they did a great job at that. I’ve been a fan of Miniature Tigers for quite some time and this was my first time seeing them perform live; it was a real treat. They played some of there old songs and some new songs from their recent release, Mia

Each act on the tour gave an excellent performance and grabbed the audience’s attention. Never Shout Never performed a number of new songs from their new album, Time Travel, such as “Silver Ecstasy,” “Simplistic Trance-Like Getaway,” and their title track “Time Travel.”

UTG PHOTOS/LIVE REVIEW: Panic! at the Disco (11/6/11)

Date: 11/6/11
Venue: Bogart’s
City: Cincinnati, OH
Acts: Panic! at the Disco, Patrick Stump, Foxy Shazam

In my younger days, the music of Fall Out Boy caught me and shoved me headfirst into the world of alternative music. My affinity for the work of those Chicago boys led me to the debut record of a new band on Pete’s new label, Panic! At the Disco. I fell in love with the raucous, refined, and risqué baroque pop that bled from A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.

I never had the opportunity to see Fall Out Boy while they were together, …
