UTG PHOTOS & REVIEW: Tyler, The Creator at Irving Plaza in New York, NY (06/12/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer MJ Rawls to Irving Plaza in New York to shoot Tyler, The Creator on June 12.

I was talking to someone about Tyler, The Creator and they mentioned that he was that kid growing up who would tell you of his huge imagination about the future that you would always dismiss. Flash forward to 2015, a growing passionate fan base, new album Cherry Bomb, and innovative app Golf Media, all those dreams have come to fruition. Cherry Bomb still has the bombastic energy of Tyler’s previous albums mixed with mature musical growth, …

Tyler, The Creator Hints That Odd Future Are “No More”

It’s hard to believe Odd Future are a group that only came onto the nation rap radar six years ago, but when that happened the crew seemed as tight as any the industry had seen before. Not only were they all friends, but they each possessed a unique take on hip-hop that allowed them to avoid ever sounding too redundant in their delivery. Now, it seems, we may never hear new material from the crew again.

Any fan of Odd Future could tell you it has been a minute since the group was seen together. After initially touring as a …

Earl Sweatshirt Unveils ‘Solace,’ Dedicated To His Mother

A little over a month ago, Odd Future recording artist Earl Sweatshirt unveiled a new album, called I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside; the direct follow-up to his widely-acclaimed debut record, Doris, from 2013. The new record peaked at #12 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and #4 on the hip-hop chart, rising one spot above and landing two spots below, respectively, from Doris‘ chart positions.

Stream: Tyler, The Creator, Kanye West, & Lil Wayne – “Smuckers”

Just as Tyler, The Creator‘s Cherry Bomb arrives on iTunes, a stream of one of the record’s most anticipated tracks has found its way online.

“Smuckers” is a collaborative effort that no one could have imagined happening five years ago. Over the course of five and a half minutes Tyler swaps bars with Kanye West and Lil Wayne. Each pretty much stays in their own line, and they probably didn’t actually complete the song in the same room, but still – it’s pretty cool. To make matters even better, it’s a far more enjoyable song than “…

Earl Sweatshirt Streams New Track, “45″

…or part of it at least.

On Wednesday, via Twitter, Odd Future heavyweight Earl Sweatshirt directed his followers’ attention to a YouTube stream for a track called “45.” However, as it runs just over a minute in length and ends somewhat abruptly, it sounds as though it may just be a clip or it fades into another track.

Judging by Earl’s tweet of “ALCHEMIST / SWAMPMAN,” we’d imagine that Alchemist handled the old school, ’70s-esque production.

Regardless of length, the bit we do get is super solid and we look forward to…the rest of it? Realistically, we look forward …

Trash Talk and Flatbush Zombies’ Drone-Shot “97.92″ Music Video Will Blow Your Mind

The way you view the world is about to get wonky. In the new video for their joint track “97.92,″ New York’s Flatbush Zombies and Trash Talk use a remote controlled drone to film some warped fish-eye shots from the air.

The video has quick movements with weird angles that make the singers look blown up, floating, and all in all pretty disproportionate. Get ready for the world to cave in and inverse itself. If that’s not your thing, grab a bag for air sickness and read a statement from the video’s creators, Aplusfilmz and Pier Pictures, to understand how …

Watch Earl Sweatshirt Debut a New Song in New York

Odd Future’s youngest member, Earl Sweatshirt, is currently on his “wearld tour” in support of his debut LP, Doris, out last year. On Thursday in New York City, the rapper performed a new track, showing he’s already looking ahead to work on a new record. Even though Doris is stacked with some impressive work, especially considering Earl only just turned 19, this new song packs quite a punch.

Odd Future Denied Entry To New Zealand Due To “Potential Threat To Public Order”

Back in 2011 when Tyler, The Creator made his TV debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, it seemed like the music world was terrified of Odd Future. Think pieces and reviews popped up everywhere, labeling Tyler’s video for “Yonkers” as disturbing or hailing it as genius. Fast forward three years and several albums later, and people still seem to be unapologetically terrified of Tyler and company’s well-documented antics. The hip-hop collective has been denied access to New Zealand and have cancelled their appearance at Rapture Festival this weekend. Immigration New Zealand commented on the situation to 3

Tyler, the Creator Disses YouTube Music Awards… Which He’s Performing At

Odd Future frontman Tyler, the Creator has taken to Twitter to yell a surprisingly thoughtful diss (in its overall meaning) about the first ever YouTube Music Awards. While it may seem hypocritical seeing he is set to perform at the awards, his gripe is actually directed at himself in a sense, since he’s angry artists–not directors–are the ones getting credit for the videos. Read his full tweet below:

“YOUTUBE AWARDS COULDVE FUCKING HAD NOMINATIONS ON COOL CREATIVE VIDEOS SHIT BUT NOOOO AGAIN ITS THE MOST TEENY BOPPER POP SHIT. YOU ARE BUTT… WHY NOT GIVE AWARDS TO JUST DIRECTORS, THESE
